Going to Montreal in 3 days with friends. Besides Schawrtz's Deli and getting some late night poutine are there any other places or foods that /ck/ thinks I must try while visiting?

You guise did me good when i went to NYC earlier this year, Thanks for that. Hoping to hear more good recs.

i like pretty much anything, the only things I'll typically shy away from is pineapple and asparagus

budget wise I'm not against spending +$50 for a meal (minus drinks) if it's really worth but I prefer to stay under

also thanks for the rec, will look into it

Everything thing in this city is overpriced and shitty. There's no such thing as good food cuz either the place is trying to be trendy/hipster or it's just your regular diner.

My favourite pizza is from Beaubien Deli, which isn't a deli.

http://www.beaubiendeli.com/gallery.html

The only good thing about this city is the strip clubs. Cleopatra's is my go to spot.

>Decarie Hot Dog (poutine and old-fashioned diner)
>Steerburger Tous Les Jours (burgers and old-fashioned diner)
>Blue Lotus Restaurant (chinese food)
>El Rey del Taco (mexican food)
>Cafe Olimpico (for coffee)

For bars I'd recommend Dieu Du Ciel!, Casa del Popolo or La Distillerie. Enjoy your trip anon!

Hey OP, Montrealer here
If you wanna get into the international shit quality mtl food, shell out some bucks and go to joe beef or la queue de cochon (about 50$ a night with drinks, melas, appetizers, can go higher but fuck ...)
Late night poutine is OK anyone will do when youre drunk
Decarie hot dogs is across the street from where I live (pic related) honest eats but it's up North and not worth it, sorry pakis from ville st-liban, but you canget the same quality quebec food all across mtl, no need to go in ville st-liban for some 9/10 dogs and poutine.
Other than that, mtl has the highest ratio of restaurants to people in North america so plenty to choose from, you can go bad with that kind of competition.
My editorial pick if youre with the boys:

Go to the strippers, relax and enjoy the show.
PehDeh= Faggot
Décrisse=Fuck Off
Mange moé la plotte= eat my lunch

You're either talking about La queue de cheval or Au pied de cochon. Both are good options, although I'd favor Au pied de cochon since their food is a bit more interesting and queue de cheval is just like any other fancy steakhouse

I really liked Les 400 Coups for a multi-course meal. It's expensive but not nearly as expensive as most fine-dining places in the city and it definitely has a more laid-back feel.
Also, Au Pied de Cochon for that fucking cheap (for standards of an American) and delicious (for anyone's standards) foie gras.
Also, enjoy you lucky bastard. I visited Montreal for a week and absolutely loved it, including the food.

Poutine really isn't a Canadian thing per se, it's a Quebec invention that the rest of the country tried to emulate and does so quite poorly. Kentucky fried chicken does better poutine than 90% of non Quebec chains.

But Quebec does have other claims to fame, infact pretty much all Canadian cuisine is French inspired or French/English mix inspired which is a Quebec thing anyways:

Sugar cabane breakfasts(English)
Maple syrup Anything
Tortiere
Montreal steak
Montreal smoked meat

Not sure about the rest of Canada but I heard Calgary has some good bbq.

>that maple syrup toffee/coffee/candy/cookies/everything
>those cozy looking apartments with outdoor staircases

Fuck me I want to go back and maybe even move there. I visited in the dead of winter too. Heard it's even more fun come summer-time.

there was an extremely comfy and delicious portuguese cafe by the hostel i stayed at, but i don't remember the name or street :(

waitress was a qt and gave my friends and i some food on the house because we're cute or something

>> No.6792795

For portugese chicken, go to romados on rachel.

If you want poutine, go to la banquise on rachel, you're a tourist so you won't know any better anyway, it's fine.

If you already know about poutine, and you're interested in chicken curry poutine, go to chef guru on st-laurent

For some really good griot and other haitian food, go to meli melo on jarry. Cheap, filling and good as fuck

The most obvious fine dining choices are joe beef and pied de cochon.

If you want a bar with a fancier kitchen, check out SuWu or majestique.

You can get good donuts at chez boris

Montreal in the summer is a fucking riot, if you like bar hopping they have what is one of the best scenes in the world on crescent street. Top tier strip clubs as well.

The women in Montreal are notoriously slutty, it has been great to me.

Montreal has it all except a lot of high paying jobs, I had to move to Toronto, but I'd move back in a heartbeat.

Strip clubs are pretty good, cheaper than the ROC and there are a lot of them.

Two things not to miss that haven't yet made the list:

French pastries. If the place has decent pastries leave room for dessert. The standards for these are higher in Mtl than most of North America.

Shish taouk sandwich. Basically a Lebanese chicken shawarma. Trashy, but delicious for a lunch on the go or a bite when you've been drinking.

like a tourist is going to be able to have access to that on a fucking whim.

it has turned to shit since 2005 though, that i can agree on. i havent clubbed there since about 2007 or so but after '05 it really took a turn for the worse.
montreal used to be an edgy city the likes canada never knew before, but it seems the university immigrant liberal scumbags have shit all over the damn place.
