How are you doing today /ck/? What are you drinking and what's the occasion?

Enjoying some Beer, Whisky, Cocktails, other spirits? Whether you like something specific or are just trying finding the best cheap stuff to drown away your sorrow, let's talk about it.

I've been thinking about buying some scotch. Any recommendations? I'm not picky, but my favorites tend to slant toward a sherried flavor. Been thinking about getting pic related. Anyone have experience with the Glenfarclas 17?

Pretty much any Glenfarclas is awesome if you like sherries malts. The 15 is about equal in quality to the 17 IMO while being a bit cheaper (they're different but I don't really like one more than the other) but if you can afford the 21, it's stellar.

I'm drinking some Dal Forno amarone with my gf to celebrate a promotion. Got half a bottle of Lagavulin Distiller's Edition left I'll probably sip on later. Cheers anons!

I've only had the 12 because I'm stingy, but it was good. A good degree of complexity and a very "dense" flavor. Glenfarclas seems to me to be generally well made and worthwhile. They also do their distillation in a different (older) way which produces more of a toasted caramelized flavor, which adds and extra richness and is relatively unique. Springbank has something similar.

there's a bunch of things you could try. Make sure to eat like 2 hours before you drink, drinking on an empty stomach is a terrible idea. If you generally stick to beer maybe the sheer amount of liquid is exacerbating the issue, you could switch to shots and just try to down some as quick as possible to skip the buzzed phase entirely. If that doesn't work, you could try the opposite and just try very slowly increasing the amount you have throughout the night to bring it on in a gentle manner. Idk man, it's your body I can't tell you how it works.

Exactly. How to make hundreds of dollars investing in liquor:
1) Already have millions of dollars, own a house with a wine cellar
2) Buy super expensive liquor with your millions of dollars
?????

You at least seem to be drinking legit vodkas. I keep a cheapish bottle at home. I use it basically just to make things alcoholic. I had a Russian expat friend who used to be a vodka chemist at Russian Standard. He informed me that it's useless to find good vodka in America since shipping degrades the quality of the liquor so much. I'm (hopefully) going to go live in Hungary soon, so then I may see the vodka light.

today my dad bought a crapload of liquor on the way back home from a family trip to Panama. I love him dearly but he bought me a bottle of blue label and I'm just upset cause I felt it was a waste of money(especially since gold label reserve was 50 over there for 1l). I'll enjoy my blue label with my friends in the meantime but my question really is, any suggestions of what to put in the bottle when the blue label has run dry? any cheap good blended scotches or perhaps single malts to replace the "prestigious" icon? The bottle is really fucking cool and I don't want to throw it away a year from now or whatever I want to reuse

tl;dr
what whisky should I put in a bottle of blue label to conduct a social experiment?

K thanks, I'll keep that one in mind.
I recently tried vat 69 and a hotel and honestly it was pretty damn good for being such a cheap ass bottle, but blue label still had it clearly beat by a small margin. Plus the color was off by a tad. I'll keep searching for that walker-blue-esque scotch that won't break my fucking wallet. Of course I could just stuff some Macallan 12 in there but then everyone who tries it will end up fucking addicted to the stuff. Addicted to a lie...ya I'm not that horrible

Mixing it with Coke. I'm not into straight shots.

The occasion? I have three days off from work. Suffice it to say, I will spend at least half that time drunk. I picked this bottle up after I got off this afternoon.

How good of a friend is he? If he's your best bro that's unforgivable.

Alcohol has a way of bringing out your honest opinions, no matter how harsh. You probably vented your honest opinions of the guy. It sounds like it was a sketchy thing for him to get involved with, and maybe you might be embarrassed to hang out with him after he got caught in with that.

But really, you should stay quiet about things like that. I know from experience lul. You were being a drama queen and he punched you in the face for it.

Try not to drink so much with your friends next time, if they invite you. You don't want to lose your filter and say mean shit. He will call you out on it and you will get punched.

Gin and Tonic is basically THE way to drink gin, to the point where manufacturers pair their gin with special tonic waters, and gin and tonic combinations are tested in gin competitions.

I just bought a pint of Presidente brandy. This is my favorite cheap brandy. I've been able to get it for $10-11 a 750mL before but recently I've only seen it in 1L bottles and it's closer to $20 so I don't get it.

I drank a pint of E&J VSOP last night because it was the only thing the liquor store by my house has. That stuff is pretty nasty. I paid $6.99 for this pint which was what I paid for the E&J and this is way better.

I would pick Presidente over: E&J, Paul Mason, Korbel, St. Remey every single time.

Gin with tonic and lime juice is really good. Gin in grapefruit juice is good. I'll order a martini sometimes when I'm out somewhere but I've never made one myself. fantastic stuff. heavy on the vanilla.

pyrat which was also mentioned, is heavy on the orange taste. almost to the point of being an orange liquer. also nice stuff.

at a similar price, you find shit like mount gay extra old, cruzan single barrel, appleton estate 12 year old. appleton especially is really good at that price.

up your budget a bit and then you get into ron zacapa, brugal, etc. fantastic stuff.

if you can find it, havana club puts out a good product. their 7 year old bottling is the motherfuckin tits.

for mixing, can't go wrong with shit like myers dark, goslings, flor de cana 3/4yr i forget (the white rum), havana club white, old monk (indian rum, pretty good)
