Sometimes when i bake a cake that includes baking soda/powder as an ingredient the cake comes out either tasting like baking soda/powder or it has a strong after taste of it. Now im not a fucking pleb i know you have to sift and stir dry ingredients and measure properly. I think the weirdest thing about my problem is that when i have family and friends eat the cake to get a second opinion they always say they cant taste it and say its great. I never taste baking soda/powder in cakes made by other people either. so does anyone else have this problem or am i just cursed by the baking gods?

>tell her /ck/ wishes her happy birthday

It might just be that you're more critical of your own baking than other's OP. I've found that's often the case for people in many other areas of life.

I was going to say "sift" but you say you do so I'm going with what this anon said. I really can't think of any other explanation. Maybe it's anxiety and in your head?

i would think the same thing but its so inconsistent like some times the cake is perfect and beautiful and awesome other times i cant even stand to eat it because of the taste
