ITT: We predict food trends

>This shit replaces Sriracha as the no. 1 overrated hot sauce
>Scallions are added to EVERYTHING
>Eggplants become the new avocado
>Gourmet insects, insect street food, basically people start eating insects outside of africa
>Corn and cornmeal become popular in baked goods
>Bok choi becomes more popular
>Fire roasting becomes popular in gourmet restaurants, "fire roasted onions" "fire grilled steak" etc.
>Every seasoning becomes more popular smoked
>Smoking becomes more popular in general
>Gourmet ramen gets huge in the West, especially in big cities

That's all I can think of.

>Fire roasting becomes popular in gourmet restaurants, "fire roasted onions" "fire grilled steak" etc.
Isn't that already popular?

Yeah, I guess I was thinking more wood fires. So you get that camping taste without having to actually camp

i doubt eggplant
and gourmet ramen is already really popular

but yah smoking and the valentina(even though I love it) have potential to become true

Where do you live? Cause gourmet ramen is not as popular in NY as you'd think.

As a Georgian, how can I do my part to ensure that this shit doesn't creep over here from the North and West? It's usually slower, but it still happens, although not nearly as bad as meme cities like SF or NY

I am not entirely familiar with discrimnation law, but would it be legal if I barred entry for memers? Could I kick people out if they ask for meme sauce or meme foods? Or is that discrimination?

I might go talk to a lawyer tomorrow.

Pretty sure there are only certain categorizations that are protected by discrimination laws (race, religion, physically disabled, etc.) and I seriously doubt that asking for meme food would fall under any category.

For what it's worth, there's a bar a few blocks from me where the owner regularly kicks out Dodgers fans (guess which city I live in!)

I'll play:
>Upscale Peruvian becomes a trend on the strength of ceviche, grilled beef heart skewers, rotisserie chicken and reallyfuckinggood hot chocolate. Salchipapas tag along for the ride
>Vegetarian fast casual chains appear outside of major cities, and more upscale places offer vegetarian tasting menus
>Piquepoul takes off as the trendy white wine, as everyone who was drinking cheap Pinot Noir switches over to Zweigelt
>Latin American style hot dogs
>Toast continues to be a thing, with artisanal toast being the base for tartine sandwiches that begin to cut into the market currently occupied by panini.

>Public criticism of the obesity epidemic waxes
>Restaurants react, offering smaller portions at higher prices
>As restaurant prices soar, it becomes more economical to either cook for yourself or retain the services of a home chef

This is a board for those that are like you in interest, but we are in the minority. Most people do not know how to cook and don't care to learn when they have other options right in front of them. And since the barrier is not physical, only economic, chances are a gradual price change would not convince them otherwise. It's the boiling frog.
