What kind of food are you GROWING, /ck/?

>> No.6349356

I've got tomatoes and peppers are under the grow light. It's still too cold out for them to be outside.
My garlic from last october is sprouting super early. I'll bet it's ready for harvest in June

Hey fuck you farmer feels, I planted my GD garden this weekend and now if snowing balls and I'm going to have to do it all over again.

>> No.6349365

Nothing at the moment; it's still too cold here in Bong.

>> No.6349385

I'm not starting any seedlings for at least another three weeks. We got three inches of snow in my area over the weekend and except for a day here and there, temps at night are still in the high teens and low twenties.

I'm growing roma and black brandywine tomatoes this year along with a couple kinds of peppers (some kind of sweet bell and poblanos, probably) and yellow onions.

I grow the majority of my herbs indoors. I'm currently growing flat leaf parsley, garlic chives and sweet basil.

>> No.6349424

I'm not growing anything yet, but I will soon. I live in the city, so all I have is a small, raised strip behind my building. There will be:
tomatoes
parsley
sage
rosemary
basil

And that's about all I'll have room for. I will use the fuck out of the herbs, so it's worth having even a small garden.

You should plant the herbs in some pots that you can move inside next fall and have a year round herb garden, and that would leave the strip available for more tomatoes or even some peppers or whatever floats your boat.

How long do those fucks take to actually do anything?
Had some ginger left over over the christmas holidays, and when I came home to my flat, It sprouted. so I planted it in a pot, and started to water it, and its almost doing nothing. I dont expect it to turn into a massive plant after a few weeks or so, but

Check out a farmers almanac, they are generally pretty accurate. Not 100% but you can use it as a good gauge. Also, stick your head out the window sometime and check the fucking skies brah

Fuck yeah. Tomato plants are fantastic. Grow a few varieties every year.

Also grow a whack of different herbs, plus lettuces, leeks, red russian garlic, fingerling potatoes, carrots, kabocha and blue Hubbard squashes, rhubarb, cantaloupes, johnagold apples, mirabelle plums, redcurrants, 'wild' blackberries, and raspberries. Have a little black cherry tree but it's really small yet so I haven't really gotten any cherries off it yet.

Also a shit ton of herbs I don't care to list. I planted a stevia plant, you can eat the leaves and are super sweet not sure what the fuck you're supposed to do with them though.
Summer vegetables are top tier god damn I cant wait.

Last year I had a decent enough crop to have enough stuff canned/frozen to last me for now. Here is what I am growing this year, pic related. I am ready to get some seeds in the ground!

Indoor herb gardens are pretty simple mang! Just make sure it gets sunlight and water and you'll have yearlong deliciousness fresh on the plate

>> No.6351196

>>6349385
Where do you keep your herbs indoors? I tried tbat with mint, basil, chives, and parsley but they always wilted indoors. I had them in a pretty sunny area and watered them but they still died.

I then started planting them outside and they grew too big. It was a hassle to deal with since the mint spread like a weed and so did the basil. The chives attracted animals as well.

So I rather have them in small pots indoors.

>>6351154
I doubt I am the anon you're thinking of, I only did 1 or 2 canning threads last year about tomatoes that didn't get much interest at the time. It's quite a bit of fun though really, you should look into it!

Probably some cucumbers for pickles, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and peppers of some sort. Plus plenty of herbs.
