I don't even know what that stuff costs as I've only had it in shots purchased by others, but for dark rums you can start with Zacapa 23 which is pretty reasonably priced, as are most decent rums. El Dorado 15, Santa Teresa 1796, and Barbancourt 15 are also good, but I would start with the Zacapa.

For light rums, you can't ever go wrong with Ten Cane, but if you want something a little cheaper, Flor de Cana 4 Year White is really quite good for the money. I also like Barbancourt white.

Mount Gay's fine. Avoid Sailor Jerry, that shit is repellent. Haven't seen it around for a bit, but Captain Morgan Tattoo is pretty good, similar to Kraken. Also there's nothing really wrong with Kraken, OP, even if people overhype it.

I don't remember the price of Krakrn because I generally drink good rum. Check out the 8 year old Bacardi; it's bee a while since I had it, but I remember it being pretty good for the price.

Bayou and Blue Chair Bay have pretty good white rums if you can find them.

Prichard's and Mt Gay make pretty good white rums, as well (I prefer Prichard's though). They also make some good aged rums, too

Can someone help me out with something? I'm not a big drinker as I'm only 18. I like to get drunk on the weekends though. My birthday is in two months and since I'm in Canada, I'll be legal at that point.

Although, I do actually have a couple of reasons. I mean, my main reason I guess would be (and it may sound kind of silly) but I've just never really asked anybody to buy me liquor before, and I don't want to risk asking the guy to get me something he's never heard of before so I decided to just stick to things everyone knows. I know there's a chance I could always just go in with him, but if it just so happens to turn out that he goes in alone I wanna make sure A) He'll know what he's getting and B) The store will definitely have it
