Put a cheap brisket in the Crock Pot before work this morning with a bottle of Chili Sauce and a packet of onion soup mix. Got home and baked a potato and sautéed some spinach with onions and bacon. Life's too short to eat crappy food....

Yeah? I can still get various beans, lentils, chickpeas etc super, duper cheap, even if not buying in bulk. Lentils, for example, are 79¢ per 1lb package at Aldi. I buys that shit up, ayup. 20lbs of rice for $6.99 when it's on sale. Definitely the cheapest meal I can put together is rice and lentils.

I feel so bad for the animals in the U.S. With those prices, they can't be treated very well. In Sweden good quality beef fillet is sold for 60 dollars/kg. Oxtail roughly the same though, and brisket I don't know. Rarely see it sold here.

>i cook every day so I dont see the point in taking pictures of it.

I cook every day as well. I also care for an aging relative with Alzheimer's. It's much easier to take a picture and catalog it so that I can show it to him and see if he'd like to eat that. As an aside, I sometimes post here as well, you know, an image board about FOOD & COOKING?

>> No.6111350

>>6111339
There's a much greater demand for cheap meat in the US so they find a way to cut costs but keep the quality passable.
In my home country, meat prices are about double what they are here but veg and cheese prices are much, much lower back home than in America.

>> No.6111352

>>6111332

seriously, i dont need to post a picture of any meals i make to back up the fact that dumping motherfucking bottles of chili sauce and soup powder mix onto beef is manchild tier "cooking" that no self respecting adult would consider a suitable meal, the baked potato however is fine.

I live in America, and the state I live in has 4 cows for every person living here. The difference is space. Useable space that is ideal for pasturing range animals. I'm not going to say there isn't a factory farming problem, and I understand where your concern is coming from, but we also have the land and space for cattle that most places are limited on.

I did, indeed cook that, but I've never made the claim that it was haute cuisine, simply a decent tasting, and filling, meal after a day's work. No, I didn't put much in to it, but that was the fucking point. A decent meal can be prepared simply, instead of eating fast food, or food from a box or a freezer.

And, mine came for the Jim Beam I'm sipping on...

I actually like off-brand SPAM-alike. Sliced thin and fried up like bacon, it's pretty decent. It's only good thinly sliced and pan-fried to a crisp, IMO.
