Start cheap and stay cheap. E&J is all you need.

A lot of big box liquor retailers have their own reviews and/or customer reviews on their websites, see whats the best reviewed in your price range. Or just got to your local liquor store and ask for suggestions

>buy brandy the other day because its on sale and cheap as fuck
>dont even know what I'm buying
>see this post
>look at brandy
>it's E&J

Isn't that a very nice greentext story?

Lol

Unless you're drinking cognac brandy is cheap enough that you don't need to sacrifice quality to save money

California brandy has the same problem as California wine. It's vulgar tasting and has too much vanilla from overuse of oak chips

get a bottle of hennesy cognac

Fuck me, E&J is fookin terrible. Sometimes I have to buy it on account of my alcoholism and there being no other brandy available.

OP, start off with some Paul Masson. It's as inexpensive as E&J, but much better quality. I wouldn't suggest a higher quality cognac until you acquire a taste for it. However, when you do, buy Courvoisier. Remy Martin is a close second.

Only brandy I've ever liked is Christian Brothers. Dunno why I've never liked the "good stuff", but I really can't stand it.

Nice, the first hard liquor I ever tried was CB. Some good shit right there

Same here, my mom used it for cooking. I stole it out of pantry one night when I 14, held my nose and took shots because I was curious what alcohol felt like. Long story short I ended up walking around the house completely naked at 1am while everyone was asleep.

Cadenhead's cask strength confirmed best cognac

Put it up to your face and take a huuuge breath through your nose.

E&J's XO used to be good. Not just good for its price, but world-class competitive-with-cognac good. They ruined it a few years back with their new X-TRA SMOOTHE branding.

Brandy is way too expensive for anything drinkable.

This. Brandy is one of the cheaper spirits for palatability vs price point.

This stuff is almost cheap enough to cook with and it's great. If your liquore store doesn't have it your liquor store has failed at being a liquor store.

>> No.5687257

Courvoiser and Hennesy are both under $75 and are a good place to start. Remy Martin is a tier up so try that one next

>> No.5687697

What I did, OP, was to find a liquor store that sold miniatures and to get one mini of every type they had.

>fml there ain't a dime's worth of difference between them in flavor
