Pink or iridescent egg white (albumen) indicates spoilage due to Pseudomonas bacteria. Some of these microorganisms—which produce a greenish, fluorescent, water-soluble pigment—are harmful to humans.

Good luck, OP. I got a pseudomonas infection under my toenail once. Hurt like hell. It took months of antibiotics to clear it up, and the toenail has never grown back properly.

I don't know what the result of eating the toxins would be, but if you didn't cook the egg THOROUGHLY you could have real problems.

Proteins denature with heat. That's why eggwhite turns solid and white.

The problem is, we generally don't use enough heat when cooking to denature bacterial toxins, such as botulism. If the toxins produced by pseudomonas degrade at a low enough temperature, OP might not get sick, but if they're botulism-like, he could be fucked.

Secondarily, the issue of whether he cooked the eggs well enough to kill the bacteria off. If not, he could be fucked from that too.

>> No.5675711

Okay so question /ck/,

You go to your grocery, get your items which include eggs, then come back home and put the eggs in the refrigerator. How long do they have before they are bad? I have been eating some that are two months old and they aren't bad tasting and I haven't gotten sick. It was an 18-pack. Also, I'm color blind.

>> No.5675715

>Can you eat eggs with blood spots?

>Eggs with a visible blood spot on the yolk are safe for consumption. The spot can be removed with the tip of a knife. Blood or "meat" spots are occasionally found on an egg yolk. These tiny spots are not harmful and are caused by the rupture of a blood vessel during formation of the egg. Blood spots do not indicate a fertilized egg. Mass candling methods reveal most blood spots and those eggs are removed, but even with electronic spotters, it is impossible to catch all of them. If desired, the spot can be removed with the tip of a clean knife prior to cooking. These eggs are safe to eat.

OP did not describe a "blood egg" or "blood spots", OP described an egg that was contaminated with Pseudomonas bacteria. They are different things. Blood is not in itself harmful, although a blood egg is disgusting and is more likely to have bacterial contamination in it. Pseudomonas contamination is dangerous and should not be eaten.
