/ck/, why do so many people like their egg yolks runny? I can barely stomach the concept, let alone bring myself to try it. It just seems gross and unhealthy/safe.

I usually cook two eggs sunny side up for breakfast. I'll dip toast into one yolk and eat around the other and pop the whole yolk into my mouth and fuck is it good.

It's not slimy at all.
It's rich and flavorful, and acts like a buttery "sauce" so to speak for the whites when I'm eating it
I find it a great flavor and textural experience, not to mention that the dry crumbly taste of cooked yolk is a major turn off for me

For many thousands of years, that's how people ate them, until the USDA came along with their "minimum safe internal temperature" charts.

Consider the fox - he does not cook the eggs he steals at all, merely smashes them open and licks the shells clean. He doesn't become ill. If you ask him what he thinks of eating raw eggs, he'll say "Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum!"

But seriously, runny warm egg yolks are splendid on a toasted english muffin, and I didn't fully appreciate them until I had a good soft-boiled egg.

when i was a kid i didnt like the yolk runny.
now as an adult i have to admit its the best part.
if you cook it properly it is not slimy at all.

Personally, I like the yolk to be just coagulated, but not yet to the point of opaqueness. Preserves flavor with superior texture.
