Is three beers at night unhealthy? I've been doing 3 a night most nights for the past year and figured I should probably look into it.

How much do you drink at night?

>> No.5476241

I drink two 40's a night of St.Ides because I'm broke, when I have money to spend I go straight for the liquor and how much I drink depends, sometimes a fifth a night if i got for the cheap shit and don't feel like sleeping.

>> No.5476243

No. Also, fuck scranton, fuck wilkes, fuck pitston, fuck all yall niggas.

I drink more than you believe and still work in the morning. I cut back to weekends and thursdays after puking up all that blood. about a third of those 20$ plastic bottles of whiskey.

Seems ok.
Sometimes I'll drink a 375ml+ of whiskey for four nights straight, take a day off, then do a few more.

>> No.5476287

>>5476232
That's perfectly reasonable, as long as you're otherwise healthy, eating, sleeping and exercising well.

I drink something like a quarter to a half of a fifth of whiskey nearly every night. Usually it's over the course of five hours or so, but still.

Alcohol here.

I think it's healthy if its normal sized bottles that aren't extreme abv. I drink a whole lot at night but I'm in the process of tapering off it and doing a detox. Somebody told me I reeked of booze at high noon and I hadn't had a drink since midnight, it sort of snapped me out of my bender and made me not want to drink anymore.

Today I had a bourbon shot after work, a bomber of Imperial stout a couple hours ago, and will take another nightcap shot in a little while before bed.

Three beers a night, every night? Yes, that's excessive. The people in this thread telling you it's no big deal are your fellow alcoholics trying to make their own habits seem reasonable.

Coming to a place like this for advice on drinking is like going to a fat positive tumblr to ask, "Hey guys, I eat 3 cups of ice cream a night, do you think that's too much?"

8 shots of cheap whiskey a night here.

Also, it depends. If I said you can't drink tonight what would you do? If local stores were out of beer what would you do? Many people are quick to call people alcoholics while only looking at the amount drank, without other factors. It's led to this self-guilt bullshit when drinking.

If it doesn't interfere with your work/home life and you're not dependent on it then who gives a fuck? Unless you're some kind of colored person. Their physiology isn't as well equipped to handle it as whites. Literally.

Beer metabolizes differently. Most people who gain weight via alcohol do so because they are eating while drinking. Comparing beer to icecream is a ludicrous analogy.

Three a night is not bad. But its not just three a night.

It is:

3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 15 - 15 - 0
M T W Th F Sa Su

Pretty much everyone who has at least a beer a night gets smashed on weekends.

If it fits your lifestyle and no negative immediate side effects then you are fine. Is it good long term? Fuck no, and you will see negative consequences by the time you are 30.

But then again, if you are still drinking that much at age 25, you should probably reevaluate your life choices

I used to be a heavy drinker. I drink off and on these days, around maybe once or twice a week. I drank enough to be considered an alcoholic and my genes make me more predisposed to alcoholism.

But yes, anything more than a few drinks a week constitutes alcohol abuse. Anyone who binge drinks regularly is either a in college or an alcoholic. Take your pick, don't let it destroy your life.

For me it was don't mix 150 mg doses of sertraline with alcohol which got me to quit. That and the threats of involuntary institutionalization in a mental health facility.

I used to get anxious at even thinking about going a day without getting drunk because I thought I was physically addicted. Cutting down quickly and significantly recently hasn't been near as bad as I anticipated though, the worst part has been avoiding my apartment where the booze and internet is and finding things to do outside after work. Sweating all night sucks too but not so bad. I had shaking hands and jitters at first but I figured out if I eat breakfast and don't go for a very long time without food they go away.

Last time I got off it I failed because insomnia made me a non functioning wreck. This time I have melatonin and it works.

thats a bullshit test though, i have at times felt the need to cut back on my drinking, and ive also felt guilty about doing so. However i drink maybe once a week at most and have for years now. Doesnt mean i havent felt a need to cut back when i wake up with a serious hangover or felt guilty because i went drinking instead of being with my wife. Three beers a night is fine op, millions of people drink much more than that per night.

Depends how high your standards are for "healthy". The people who have responded probably consider themselves healthy as long as they're liver and kidneys are still working. If that's you, then by all means keep it up.

I used to drink that much every night and my skin got seriously shitty and I used to take unpleasant shits every morning. Was I doing serious harm to my body? Probably not, but I still wouldn't consider that healthy.

>> No.5476701

You should take off two weeks of drinking, give you liver and kidneys a break. If you've been doing it too long you will notice your shits becoming looser and runnier, from your liver not functioning the way its meant to but instead focusing on the expected alcohol intake everyday.

If you haven't reached that point yet, two weeks should be enough time off, your liver is reasonable resilient especially if you are young.

If you have reached that point, loose stools everyday , heartburn, stomach aches ect... you'll need to take 4 months off to allow your GI path to heal up.

AFAIK the way they calculate calories is basically by burning it and seeing how much energy it gives off, not by how much energy it directly gives a human body. So a cup of pure alcohol and a cup of sugar might both burn the same amount of calories, but the body handles the two in different ways so with regards to having usable energy, making fat, etc, it's not the same. Of course beer has a bunch of sugars too, but the 'calories' on the label would include both the alcohol and the sugars.

At least that's what I gathered from half-assed googling the subject a couple months ago, if that's BS let me know what's what.

I drink buckets. Literally.

I honestly drink like, a 12 pack a day. Sometimes I go out and drink more after, too.

I drink shittons of alcohol. Sometimes it's unbelievable. You can ask around, it's incredible how much I drink. I don't know anyone else who drinks as much as I do, and I don't think I've even ever seen it.

But alcohol suits me well. It's insanely expensive, which is the main problem I have with it, and sometimes the lifestyle that accompanies it makes it difficult to get things done right, but it's still not the real cause why I can't do shit all, anyway.

But yeah, I've to try to drink less. It's just really expensive. I have a very expensive lifestyle right now, life off the internet is very expensive.
