Yeah, last time I melted chocolate in a bowl or combined butter and peanut butter I got a collapsed lung from the resulting fumes.

popcorn.
WITHOUT butter or sugar.
They are very light, or to say it better a bowl only contains a small amount, 10 or 20 grams, so you can eat a snack without getting obese.

If you can't tell from looking at it what is safe and what isn't, you don't deserve good food.

take bread, good bread.
Old stale bread is good too.
Cut a slice in small cubes. Cover them in olive oil salt and pepper.
Cook in the oven until they become crunchy. e
Njoy.

well at least popcorn is slightly health.

I personally like to eat a meal while watching a movie, normally a high grade burger or something

I made this thread mainly because the new GoT episode is my highlight of the week and I want to make really good food for watching it. I have my homemade mead ready and for this episode I am thinking of making a curry and probably something to snack on too. But I really don't know what to do about the latter so I came here for ideas.

You dont need a microwave to melt chocolate.

It melts in your pocket if you forget about it for too long, I thought it was common knowledge that to melt chocolate you boil some water in a bowl, then put a second bowl over that with the chocolate inside which will heat up from the indirect contact of the boiling water, this melting the chocolate.

Yes, I do that when baking something. But I wanted to make a chocolate and fruit milkshake and I used the mixing bowl I would have composed everything in.

that's actually not necessary. It was with old stoves where the flame was only in the center of the pot and very strong, but with modern stoves the flame is spread evenly, and with induction stoves the heat is spread even more evenly.

You can totally do a british theme for a GoT ep. I suggest trying your hand at scotch eggs...cooking your boiled eggs in advance, wrapping with some jimmy dean or other sausage day of...rolling in some bread crumbs and baking. Chill down your beer/mead/whatever. Can also make some homemade chips (baking some oven fries) at the same time. Try some jarred simmery curry over some chicken to serve with the fries (for round two). Or make a nice casserole idea, pot pie or some pretty bangers and mash idea. Glorious dessert. Trifle can be made ahead, macerating in delicious fruit and sherry.

My go to movie night tends to be asian and "light" lately. I get dry beer like Asahi, steamed edamame, some pot stickers or soup, brown rice and sauteed veggies. I don't like going to bed on a crazy full dinner.

If I want popcorn, I've been doing a cheat "poppycock" for myself with the orville caramel. I toast some assorted nuts, like pepitas, cashews, pecans, spices like cayenne/lime or five spice in butter in a nonstick pan while popping the corn. I add the nuts to the top of the corn when putting it in the bowl, add the caramel block that came with it, and toss all to combine. Orville gives you abundantly more caramel than the popcorn can use, so it coats all the nuts as well.

the reason for using a double boiler is not for the even heating, it's to prevent getting the chocolate too hot. When there is water in the boiler the temperature can never exceed 100C regardless of the heat of the range.

If all you wanted was even heating then all you need is a thick pot.

>> No.5452139

For movie nights, I like to make a spread of cream cheese and creme fraiche and shredded cheese with whatever the fuck I want (like ham, broccoli, mushrooms, onions, whatever), spread that onto some rolls and bake them in the oven until the shredded cheese gets slightly brown.

Thank you for your ideas. I especially like the british theme, definitely going to try that one
