Pretty good wine being made in Ontario. Decent selection at the LCBO for imported brands too, I think.

>> No.5428345

Québec has some good wineries and cider procuders. SAQ has shit selection for local products however, you need to buy from the producers.

Ontario producers such as 30 Bench, Norman Hardie and Pearl Morisette make very good wine. A lot of great beer comes out of quebec (trois mousquetaires, Unibroue) as well as cheese (Riopelle, Bleu Benedictin, Chevre Noir). Liquor we have Screech (lel), 40 Creek

You can get all those things nation wide. The question Op is why havent you tried to find out about your countries rich food culture.

>tfw the Canadian cuisine looks like chips covered in that ooze that comes out of sebaceous cysts

The Canadian government backs and guarantees a few large dairy conglomerates to "protect the farmers and "keep prices down." In reality, the "farmers" are typically massive companies that rely on temporary foreign workers who don't have to be paid as much as citizens and don't need to be given benefits. Prices of dairy are usually about 1.5x to 2x as much as in Freedom land, even right on the fucking border.

As for alcohol, it's just highly fucking taxed, but that's provincial too. Most provinces have government run liquor stores that charge absurd prices (usually a 40% markup on wines). There are some private liquor stores, but these are usually speciality wine "boutiques" that sell at an even higher price. Only Alberta has "cheap" alcohol, by which I mean about 15% cheaper than the rest of the provinces.

TL;DR?

Canadian government guarantees monopolies that canucklefuck us over

Quebec is pretty cheap too, and has the most lax liquor laws of any province. You can get beer or wine in any corner store or supermarket, and many restaurants allow you to bring your own in. Because everybody has their own corner store they go to and there are sometimes several in urban neighborhoods, prices are often competitive. Moreover, there are several independent breweries in practically every populated region of the province, as well as numerous brewpubs in every city. There are government run liquor stores, but since local product sells everywhere, they are more focused on selling imported beer and wine and hard liquor

God damn I love that Quebec lifestyle. Too bad all the infrastructure is shit and there's no jobs or I'd seriously consider moving to Montreal

Dude, I'm from BC. The infrastructure here is great by my standards.

But yeah, not much work. In BC I could score a construction job for 15 bucks an hour in any town easily with my resume. Here they ask for a trade certificate for the most basic shit. It's ridiculous.

I was talking about Quebec's infrastructue and job market.

Although I'm in Vancouver for a month and fuck me everything's expensive here
