Why hasn't the bacon sandwich caught on in America? I made on the other day and my roommates looked at me like I was some sort of degenerate, despite their history as a fantastic hangover food.

I get weird looks when I swap the cheese for sausage. It's pretty much required that you have bacon, egg, and cheese.

Guarantee replies to a trolling thread.

Because, other than breakfast sandwiches, bacon sandwiches are purely white trash food.

Not that that's a bad thing, I've been known to get down with spamwictches cooked in bacon grease on toasted white bread and american cheese.

You're supposed to swap the bacon for sausage, not the cheese. It's meat, egg, cheese. Meat can be bacon, sausage, ham, or steak.

But I like packing myself full of various meats.

Well, there's the fact that typical American bacon is different to typical British bacon. I personally think that British bacon is much better as the main sandwich meat, while American bacon is better as a complementary item.

Mayo is fucking disgusting, don't know how people can eat that stuff, it ruins anything it touches.

>go to a restuarant
>get some kind of sandwich
>it's covered in mayo
>take a single bite
>mayo oozes out and drops on the plate
>all I can taste is mayo
>mfw

They use different cuts of the animal. British bacon is pretty much always back bacon (picture related) and American bacon is known as streaky bacon it's generally taken from the stomach (pork belly) and is pretty much 50% fat 50% meat. British bacon as you can see from the picture is mostly meat.

What an odd idea, not enjoying a bacon sarnie.

You guys do at least have fried egg sandwiches though, right?

>Why hasn't the bacon sandwich caught on in America?

Because eating a sandwich with a single ingredient seems silly.

We do however have breakfast sandwiches that have other things in the mix like egg and cheese, and there is the BLT(bacon lettuce tomato).

>> No.5428104

>>5426803
America's got lots of back bacon too, and Britain plenty of streaky. The real difference is in the curing process; American bacon seems to tend to be sweeter (and thinner-sliced), whereas the British seem to prefer a saltier cure (and a bit thicker slices).

Neither is bad. It's all bacon! (My favourite is British heavily-smoked streaky bacon, grilled. MMMmmmmm...)

I have no idea what you're talking about, OP. I've never even bothered eating bacon if it wasn't between some kind of bread.

>> No.5428582

Fresh & Easy sells back bacon and ready made sandwiches that are nothing but white bread, a slice of bacon, and some brown sauce.

It's okay I guess.

>> No.5429106

>>5428104
I wasn't saying you can't get back bacon in America or streaky in Britain but that those are the main kinds eaten. When a British person thinks "bacon" chances are they'll picture back bacon and an American, streaky.

American here.... I'm a weirdo and eat bacon mustard and pickles with toasted bread. Mmmm fucking amazing tho
