What is /ck/ drinking?
Tonight, I'm enjoying Zaya rum mixed with club soda. I guess that's a Ron Collins, but without the limes. The ones at my local publix didn't look too appealing. Still tasty, imo, kinda like Coke that's been watered down but somehow kept it's carbonation

Hendricks and citadelle? Probably mostly the marketing. Gin is not for everybody, you should know. Most (not all, but most) have a strong juniper flavor that people tend to either enjoy or hate.

>> No.5308311

>>5308280
You could think of gin as basically vodka spiced with botanicals. The main flavor associated with gin is Juniper, from juniper berries. So don't think that just Beefeater has the botanicals added, its all gins. There are of course, gins that are more juniper/botanical taste forward than others however. I think that's really what the deciding factor is between brands, slightly different formulas. Tanqueray 10, for example, is knock your socks off spicy. Hendricks is much more balanced, and the juniper takes a few steps back.

Same poster:

I was not trying to shit on your post, just a little.. The problem with IPA, DIPA, APA etc is that there are very few breweries that are international that make them. Their beers are generally ok, and sometimes pretty good, but they never match the quality of local microbreweries I think. Like, I can go out drinking at a place near me and find 10 beers that taste better (to me, but generally has a fuller, more balanced taste that blooms) than the Lagunitas.

So, for a widley known and produced IPA it's pretty good. Definitely better than the Brooklyn East Indian Pale Ale for example.

I'll look out for those 3 or 4 then, good on ya son.

Scotch we got blends and single malts obviously, the latter being quite pricey.

Talkin blends then I personally keep on hand the following:

Teacher's Highland Cream (around 15-20 bucks for 750ml)
Chivas Regal 12/18 (Gettin pricey here now)
Black Label (Also a bit pricey, like starting at what 20 bucks for a 375 ml)
You could go a step down and get Red Label, but I personally don't like the stuff.

I'd personally avoid like the plague anything by Dewars (especially 12), got that shit was bad lol.

My dad was also talking about Finlaggan being pretty good and cheap (it's also a single malt as well)

Apparently Black Bottle is supposed to be good lower shelf scotch as well. Never found a bottle to try though.

The rest of the stuff becomes hard to find or single malt, which starts at like 80/90$ a bottle, and that's your glen morange, glen livet, japanese single malts like yamazaki (which if you can try, i'd recommend)

I like IPA's but they are wildly overrated and too popular. However, they are responsible for getting a lot of people to explore beer, so you have to appreciate them for that reason.

I have been really getting into stouts and porters, I simply love the flavor profile.

>they are responsible for getting a lot of people to explore beer, so you have to appreciate them for that reason.

i wont. remember when it was fad to learn something or pretend to know something about wine? i do and i'm glad its over and i dislike wine. i like beer so....you can imagine.

its just sad its happening to beer. go to old watering holes and all they sell is overpriced designer beer. brewed after the secret formula deliviered by fairies which requires yeti piss.at least with whiskey/scotch/and other harder spirits there is a entry price that most hipsters cant afford on a regular basis. same goes for cigars.

huh. 4 police cars, 2 ambulances, and a fire rescue truck just went by....

holy shit....helicopter.....4 more police cars....dude im gonna see whats going on!...

fuck they are blocking off my street!!!!!! undercover cars whipping by
jesus christ.....whats going on!

Bourbonnais is hardly Chicago. I'm in the NW Suburbs, and I don't think I've seen Brickstone stuff around here. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled now.

I'm actually from way downstate IL, but picked it up while in chicago earlier. I'm guessing their distribution is mostly in chicago since Bourbonnais is kind of a non-place.

In any case, highly recommend, although kind of pricey.

Also found out their partnered/owned whatever by Little Creatures, which gives me even more reason to love them.

Of course I have douchenozzle. If I could still buy it for around $100 like it used to be for MANY fucking years I would buy the odd bottle here or there, I mean its good for something different.

But fuck the hype surrounding pappy products these days is outrageous. All because of some fag fucking journalists pumped it up, and the fact its a limited release doesnt mean its good, they just dont make much of it. Fuckheads like yourself are buying hype and exclusivity for super inflated prices.
Nah its good, but not that good.

All I can tell you is that if you are not someone who can tell scotch by taste it is something of a uniquely pleasant find.
