Wow, that's kind of naive. Publix supermarkets, for instance, the undoubtedly third best in the nation has an entire board of directors that attend the same church. Let's not even get into the comradie among jewish owned businesses, or mormom businesses. Every business, small or large, can do whatever they want. Having people in charge of your work environments and benefits who have ethics? Priceless.

As far as I know, Chick Fil A employees like being off on Sunday, and so do their families. The community have those cravings on Sunday, which might increase sales the rest of the week who knows. It's not big deal to have your company closed on Sundays, let alone one or two days a week, especially one with long hours, breakfast and dinner. The only people who make a big deal about this are non-christians who seem to have a stick up their butt about making everything atheist or else they are somehow wronged and need to change it.

Q: Why is Chick-fil-A closed on Sunday?
A: Our founder, Truett Cathy, made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. He has often shared that his decision was as much practical as spiritual. He believes that all franchised Chick-fil-A® Operators and Restaurant employees should have an opportunity to rest, spend time with family and friends, and worship if they choose to do so. What if they're Jewish or Muslim, or they don't worship? What if they are trying to put themselves through school and Sunday is the day they're not in class and they want to earn some money to buy groceries?

I mean it's a fucking temp job for students and teenagers, I should hope. If you're working at a fast food restaurant and you need to be told when to take a break, I think you have far bigger problems than being reminded to go to church on Sunday and play with your 2.5 children.

Always been my impression of ChickFilA too. Amazingly nice people seem to work there, no matter what city I'm in. It's a pleasure.

I think you're wrong about Catholic mid-week masses, however. If people go daily to church, it'll likely be a prework time, like 7am mass. That's at most any church. The only days of obligation is weekly, Sunday (or Sat night), unless it's a holy day. Wednesday? Maybe it was Ash Wednesday, but you'd have noticed ashes on people's heads. Almost all other holy days aside from Christmas/Easter, are odd ones like feast of the such and such that nobody attends in great numbers. Those were some other religion dining with you, imho.

>I don't get the appeal of chik-fil-a. Its just average chicken, yet everyone I know treats it like the second coming of fried christ.
Nope. National taste tests state otherwise. The secret is a brine, if you must know. That's juicy inducing, but their brine is southern style...pickle juice in there. So, yea, their chicken is pretty unique. Incidentally, if none of you live near one of these fine establishments, McDonald's makes a fried copycat version called "Southern Chicken" sandwich. It's served with a pickle slice and no mayo, on a potato roll. It's completely different than their other friend chicken breast.

They'll hire you as a laborer, but have you ever tried opening a Chik-fil-A franchise? There's a background check into your personal morals, family values, and religious practices... You basically have to be white (or Oreo), have between two and four children of 1<x<3 genders, and not only praise Jebus weekly, but be active in your religious community. Oh, and you can't be a fag.

I'm sure this restaurant was created in a town and at a time when everything was closed on Sunday. It is still like that in most small towns, where main street shuts down at 6PM, with the last one or two places closed by 9PM. Forget Sundays...at the hardware store...at most everywhere that isn't that one place that is open.

Like this past year, where big chain stores were open throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas, even 24 hours, you can erode the employee home experience for money all you want. The level of outrage and willing workers will vary. I know more than a few friends that didn't shop the overnight sales in person, but that's the free market. The owner of one chain can decide not to bend with the times, add more and more and more hours if he doesn't want to. But, they can change if they want to, and could still one day. Depends on the need to stay in business. As it stands now, people rally around them anyway. It's a business decision first and foremost. There are ethical owners, despite what you think. What I'd like to hear is that they pay more than other fast food joints in town. So, if BK is above minimum wage, they'd up them. Dunno if they do, however. Most Chick Fil A's are franchise owner-managed. They make money, but not enough that you can draw a salary and have someone else run the manager job.
