Chocolate, like picture related, not powder.
Also whole milk, obviously. And I prefer vanilla ice cream, the taste is more neutral.

Tips? Yeah, don't use this:
>haagen dazs cookies and cream

Plain vanilla ice cream would be a good start. Although it might seem overly indulgent a little extra sugar can actually be quite a good addition.

Also make sure your bananas are ripe; nothing spoils a banana milkshake more than if it was made using slightly sour under-ripe bananas.

Normally I would also recommend whole milk as >>5227527 but it probably won't make any difference to the taste if you're using a decent ice cream like Haagen Dazs which is rich and thick.

Some superior-tier additions:
>banana ice cream, if you can get it
>banana caramel (overripe bananas sautéed in butter until mushy with some sugar or syrup)
>crushed pecan praline if you don't mind the gritty texture
>a little melted butter
>float lightly-whipped cream on top (don't bother if drinking through a straw)

>yeah guess I could go whole milk, it def needs to be thicker.
Whole milk won't make any difference to the consistency over semi-skimmed. Just look at them: they're so similar in consistency.

The key thing for thicker consistency is keeping the *amount* of milk to a minimum, regardless of the type you use.

>That shit is so fattening though.
No it isn't.

You're already using Haagen Dazs (one of the highest fat ice cream brands FFR) so the 2 or 3% difference in the fat content of the milk is hardly likely to make this noticeably more fattening dude!

I think I might owe you my future breakfast.

In my third world country the milkshake means:
1) Little bit of whole milk
2) Lots of fruit
3) (Optional) sugar

Banana Milkshake = Lots of Banana and some whole milk
Mango Milkshake = Lots of mango and some whole milk
etc.

No ice cream is ever added and no other thickener is added other than fruit itself. Why Americans put ice cream in it?
