Am I missing anything else? Also:

It was considered a delicacy and was only known by upper class fags back then. Now it's everywhere. You can't walk 2 blocks without coming across a thai joint in my neighborhood. Shit's ridiculous.

In Texas we've had Mexican food since the beginning of time.

We've had bubble tea and Thai food in every strip mall since the Vietnamese and Chinos moved in (like Cold War times) and realized we were all fat. Most joints aren't owned by the ethnicity on the sign, just rich Viets/Chinese or white dudes who married on vacation in SEA.

is Greek yogurt and salted caramel still a fad or is that just 'ok it's there'?

Yes I know greek yogurt has been a thing, I'm talking about every fucking yogurt company in existence trying to beat each other out with their own "Greek" yogurt.

Pretty much. Onkios was one of the few, obscure companies selling it early 2000s before it became the miracle cure for cancer. Now the entire yogurt section at my walmart super center has nothing but greek shit.

See I have no problems with fads, except when a restaurant tries to be quirky with their plating. I just want to eat good food, I don't want it to be resented in some fucked up way where the only way I can get to food into my mouth is by using my toes.

Also, I live in Vancouver and we seem to not have any fads any more. 10-15 years ago the city was covered in Japanese restaurants, they're still here, nothing new opened up. Unless you want to count foodtrucks which I don't go to cause fuck paying $8 for a sampler size portion of food.

It replaced a Thai restaurant called Azha that used to be next to Cheesie's. Cheesie's bought its space, knocked down the wall, and converted into a sports bar (now it's always loud as shit and I never go there), and they re-opened as Jazmine and Nu-Dle across the street.

Blaze Pizza. Right next to the redline. I remember Azha now but I never ate there. Cheesie's is decent but a bit expensive for what it is. I've only been there before they converted it. IIRC their fries were really good.

Also, Bagel Authority's bagels are shit on their own. Only good for sandwiches.

>>5137705
Cheesie's food quality remains the same but after the conversion they kinda fucked up. Instead of being smart with their new space and building their bar on the far wall to open up space for the customers, they built it RIGHT in the middle of the damn restaurant so it's a pain to get around.

I lived in Downey until 2004 (I live in WNY now). I go back to visit family once or twice a year and it amazes me how much more it changes, for the worse, every time.

There has been a Thai place on Paramount just north of Imperial since the mid-to-late 80's. I haven't eaten there since about 2000, but I seem to remember it being pretty decent. There was another Thai place on Lakewood, just south of the 5, but it closed sometime in the last 3-4 years.
