I pushed carts for 2 years at a grocery store. When they assigned you to push carts you pushed carts your whole shift, and it involved a huge amount of shit to do - bringing them outside at night, bringing them in every morning, keeping the amount of carts on both sides of the store exactly even, etc. Managers and supervisors (and some cashiers) treat you like shit for no readily apparent reason, too.

a) Why would customers deciding not to be messy assholes piss anyone off? It's basic decency. Bringing the carts back inside is nice, bringing them back to the corrals is baseline normal behavior. You leave it out for the wind to blow into someone's car, you're just a lazy fat fuck.
b) Why would customers DECIDING to tip employees piss anyone off? No one's asking for a tip (where I worked you'd get fired for doing that if they caught you), it's people deciding to be nice.
c) What's with the aggressive "it's their job" stuff going on ITT? When you decide to be a douche and make someone's job harder, that's just you being a douche, it's not their job.

I just got Whataburger (a fast food place in texas/the south US) and after waiting 30 minutes in the drive-thru line(the crew before midnight suks dik), my fries were cold as I ate them pulling away, and when I got home my whataburger jr plain with cheese (pls dont judge) was a double whataburger(which i wouldnt complain about), the works + mayo + no onion. It's funny, I pushed carts a few years back at a Giant (as a dedicated cart pusher only, which seems to be an American-only or east coast-only thing) and most customers do seem to act like OP and get pissed at the very notion that they shouldn't leave their shit everywhere. I've gently reminded customers not to leave their trash in the carts and not to leave their carts out in the lot, especially when it's windy (when they're MORE likely to do so because they're in a "hurry"), and they get *incredibly* pissed off about that. When they bumped me up to cashier and then checkout coach (i.e., front end supervisor) watching the abuse cart pushers get kind of got under my skin. These kids get shit pay, are given all of the unpleasant tasks to do (they also take out the trash from every garbage can in the fucking store on top of trying to keep the parking lot clear), and all these shitty upper middle class people really do act like OP and "keep them in their place". Before i could answer, he lunged his giant fat sacks for arms at me and then tackled me onto the ground.
I was covered by over 600 pounds of a greasy pimply old man and in the process, blacked out from suffocation.
About an hour later, i woke up- apparantly my manager called the cops on the fatass.
