Not the anon you're refering to, I don't know why he's so pissed. The past challenges were always really fun and brought us lots of new recipes and beautiful verticals.
They were hosted by heartsonfire, supposedly a girl who hasn't time or muse for it anymore. That she's dead is just a running gag.

I am though not sure if it's the right idea to give sceak such responsibilities. In fact I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea that will bring us all hell to earth.

That was short lived - once sriracha went mainstream - but despite the occasional threads (yeah, there's at least one right now), they aren't that bad.

Fastfood will always be here. Just ignore them. Vegetarian/vegan troll threads are definitely in the top 4.

I'd also include tipping threads, or anything else blatantly, "hurr 'murrica/yurop is so bad at food, etc...".

The worst part of /ck/ is that everyone eats, so we have constant crossboarders starting threads about dorm cooking, how to cook chicken breast, "I have a date, what will food will get her wet", "/fit/izen here...", poorfag, ramen, etc, etc... But those can't really be called shitposting, just the nature of a food board (everyone eats after all, and the rest of 4chan apparently doesn't take /ck/ seriously, thinking we'll just answer questions without them having at least lurked a bit.
