Specialty ice cream shop me once had a custom order of butter flavored ice cream. They called it "goat butter". It was going to be used on pound cake as a spread of sorts. They had leftovers and offered me a taste spoon of it. Man that shit was too intense. It actually taste more like butter than butter does.

proper theater popcorn doesn't use butter; it's coconut oil.

butter will burn before it gets hot enough to pop corn in, so the only way to use it is to dump it on afterward, turning it all soggy.

people only want buttered popcorn because they think theaters use it (the ohrase "buttered" popcorn was just marketing), then lament the off-flavor their homemade stuff has.

people hate the idea of popping corn in coconut oil only because they dislike the texture of dried coconut flakes.

theaters now flavor their oil with fake butter flavor because people expect it.

so baskin robbins now makes a "cheesy whey flavor + caramel" ice cream because they copied theater's pandering to people's misconceptions of marketing from the early 1900s.
