What does /ck/ think about Chipotle? I think it's a great alternative to fast food (Chipotle is a "fast-casual" restaurant; the fastest growing segment of the restaurant industry) when I need a quick lunch. I also like that they're phasing out GMOs soon.

>> No.5025345

Good company selling good products at a reasonable price. never had a bad burrito, however there are competitors selling superior products at a similar price albeit locally.

While their largely owned and controlled by McDonalds, you really don't get that feel at the restaurant and I hope they keep the small business feel.

They'll have to do more in New Media than they're currently doing if they want a chunk of Taco Bell's business. They're trying so hard to brand themselves as fast casual, and even kowtow to upper middle class concerns (like GMOs and local sourcing), yet the young men they'd love to see their restaurant filled with choose Taco Bell for their fix of fast food fake Mexican. Even though Chipotle has a better product. Because young men don't give a fuck about fast casual when they go out for fake Mexican. Nor do they care about GMOs and shit (though you can bet their mothers do if they're above a certain income level). They don't even care if the guac comes out of something that looks like a caulk gun, because if they wanted real guac they'd go to a real Mexican joint.

All they care about is cheap and tasty. And no matter what Chipotle does they're not going to beat TB on that front.

You bet your ass it is. TB is in an interesting position: even people who claim to hate fast food like it. Rich kids who would never eat at a McDonald's or a KFC will happily eat at Taco Bell as a trashy indulgence.

The young white collar worker Chipotle targets at lunchtime? Taco Bell has been his guilty pleasure since high school.

Hell, I'm a college educated professional who almost never eats at fast food chains. I don't give a fuck about Chipotle. But if I'm in a strange town, it's lunchtime, I have no plans and there's a TB in sight? I may have to do it.
