>Mushrooms. I’m crazy about their rich, meaty taste. When I learned about the fifth taste called umami, I began to understand my love of mushrooms. A term borrowed from the Japanese language, umami conveys a pleasant, delicious, savory taste. Here, I’ve stuffed jumbo Portobello mushrooms with oven roasted tomatoes and goat cheese for a fantastic savory appetizer or meatless main dish

heavy metals and other toxins can accumulate in mushrooms. it's possible to eat them too often.

That's more of a concern with wild mushrooms. There's no evidence that commercial mushrooms are a risk in the US. Mushroom farms typically create their own soils from agricultural byproducts that shouldn't be significant sources of heavy metals or radioactive compounds. Organicfags say to buy organic mushrooms, since the soil might be cleaner, but again there have never been any tests published showing heavy metal concern in our commercial farmed mushroom supply.

If you were eating lot of wild mushrooms, or mushrooms from countries/areas downwind of nuclear disasters or obscenely high airborne pollutants, it would be more of a concern.
