Cheese slicer that doesn't completely suck ass?

I'm dead serious. Every goddamned cheese slicer I've ever seen is a piece of shit. Can someone suggest one that isn't a piece of shit?

You just can't beat a good mandolin.

Just don't cut your finger off.

Maybe one of those with a cutting board and a wire lever thing?

I agree OP, I have that exact tool and fuck that thing, it mangles the fucking cheese every time.

>>4857290 Probably your best bet.

Good old norwegian cheese slicer.

Knives are for soft cheeses.

ok, but they tend to make a lot of mess

dont know them, but ill try it out
>>4857334
works very well for me
>>4857419
good, but not until the very end of the cheese

>> No.4857469

my uncle is a great cook, he used a lemon zester to put parmegiano on pasta once, and i was surprised how well it worked, no mess, and perfect for small amounts.

>good, but not until the very end of the cheese
Then you're doing it wrong.

>have one of those cheese graters with the crank on the side
>it's around 40-50 years old
>finally breaks

>every one I get to replace it is a complete piece of shit

I swear to fucking god every old piece of cooking equipment or anything that I have that's old like that works so much better than anything I buy now. Cheap Chinese crap.

>> No.4857525

>>4857305
Nah, those are still crappy, the wire gets loose and it makes sloppy cuts, also you're limited to the size of the block of cheese you can put in it.

Same way with fucking can openers. My parents have had the same one as long as I remember, hell, it was probably handed down to them at some point. Worked like it should for 50 years. But once I moved out, I couldn't find one that actually functioned for under $20. Fug.

That's not how you spell knife m8.

I have one of these. I've used it for years and it never fails.

>>4857290
I have one of these and for slicing cheese they are not exactly the best due to it not being uniform.

>>4857294
I've never liked these for cheese because cheese that isn't dry likes stick to them too much.

>>4857334
>>4857339
These are terrible.

>>4857419
I have two of these. They bend too easy most of the time. I use mine to slice strips of butter instead.

>>4857287
I have one of those pictured too. They never seem to fail. However, I'd seen idiots break them when they try to slice too fast then get all pissy and sperg out about it.

>>4857525
If the wire is getting loose it is because you are abusing it; probably by going to fast. Block size isn't a problem because most blocks of cheese are well under the max size it can slice. You can also cut a block into smaller blocks.

>> No.4858022

replace the wire with the thinnest banjo wire from the music store. i use it for my hot wire foam cutting machine and it holds up great. i can imagine for cheese it would be superior.
