Do like I do and cook a big pot of food, then fridge it or freeze it. That way you only cook once every few days. Stews are good, curries also, pasta is iffy, it goes strange when reheated.

You can make a big thing of sauce then just make fresh pasta when you wanna eat. You can make it in the microwave, even.

The factories that mass produce prepared foods automated this, but taking your question seriously concerning home cooking automation, the technology is lacking, and the market doesn't seem like it would support the high price, space requirements, and inconveniences that would be required for good general purpose cooking robotics.

A $50-$300 breadmaker can churn out perfectly edible bread. But you still have to shop for the ingredients, measure and add them, then clean the device afterwards. You could make similar devices for other dishes (a stir-fry maker, a sandwich maker, an omelette maker), but with the same major drawbacks.

What you want is a home robot that you given an order, can open your cupboards and fridge to grab what's needed, find appropriate cookware, cook it, plate it and tell you when it's done. In 50 years, something like that seems pretty plausible, given our current technological trajectory...it could even send an order to a grocery facility that will send needed ingredients in an automated vehicle. Maybe 30 years...who knows...30 years ago almost nobody had a home computer or cell phone. But there would certainly be demand for such a device, and there's nothing that should be inherently outrageously expensive for such a robot.

So just sit tight OP. It'll happen.

I only enjoy the cooking process because it leads to better quality product, but I would totally choose not too cook if it still meant awesome food.
