hey /ck/
This authentic Mexican food just opened near my place (haven't eaten authentic Mexican, I'm Indonesian) and I want to give it a try.. think the price is worth it? $1 is ~Rp10000. FYI

tl;dr is a steak burrito is worth $15.9 or not?

Not really Mexican cuisine is just meat with tortillas to add some flavor to it

OP, the menu descriptions suggest it's an American take on Mexican cuisine, so "authentic" isn't quite the right word here. Whether it's good or not, who knows? It sounds overpriced to me, as the ingredients are pretty basic, and the cooking skill required to prepare the dishes is minimal. On the other hand, if I'd never had Mexican food before (even American-Mexican), I'd probably shell out 2x-3x the price of a normal meal just to try it. As people have said, food like that tends to be cheap in the US; a burrito might cost $3-$8 at a regular (non-fancy) restaurant. But then we pay $10-$15 for basic dishes at a decent Indian restaurant that I'm sure you'd find much cheaper in Indonesia.

You're welcome OP now you can have the comforts of American/Mexican from your very own kitchen, at a fraction of the cost of your shit restaurant.

It's not really authentic Mexican food, more the stuff you find in America. Doesn't mean it's bad, though.

Pretty sure the median home price in the mast majority of flyover states in the US are below that. I'm from Michigan, and there are probably only one or two counties that that exceed that. Plenty of nice ritzy homes, just offset by tons of modest or old ones.

Burritos are traditional Mexican food. It just happens to also be traditional American food.

>> No.4795737

>>4795730
afaik the burritos that feature in traditional Mexicn cuisine are not closely related to the burritos we eat in America

they're still recognizably Mexican in terms of the ingredients and methods ofc. but they were invented by Mexicans in America. the diaspora.

none of that shit on the menu is authentic Mexican food not us any of it worth any form of currency.

>> No.4797942

It looks like typical Tex-Mex. That's not bad, it's just not Mexican. If you've never had Tex-Mex or Mexican food then by all means give it a shot. I doubt it'll be as good as it should be though. East and SE Asia is really lacking decent restaurants of those varieties.
