Motherfuckin kimchi bacon bokkeumbap. Can you even comprehend the umami contained in this fucker? So fucking good. Came out perfect, and I'm a white dude!

Pretty much this one:
http://momofukufor2.com/2010/03/bacon-kimchi-fried-rice-recipe/

Except carrots instead of peas cuz I had no peas. And the oil I used was sesame oil. I had to add more oil for the rice part cuz there wasn't enough bacon grease.

And I did it all in a cast iron skillet. Who actually has a proper wok and wok burner?

what more do you expect from a bowl of fried rice? more bowning on the rice? because other than that, I can not think of any other metric of judging fried rice

>> No.4641207

>>4641197
Not really about the rice, more about the other shit in it. For starters, carrots seem underdone, bacon is definitely underdone and there appear to be no spices other than what looks like paprika.

The bacon is like that on purpose though. Soft and chewy, not crispy and crunchy. I was inspired from when I got the dish at a Korean restaurant and I tried to emulate that.

And you're right, no spices added. Not even paprika. Kimchi is heavily spiced cabbage and provides all the spice in the dish. Plus I poured some kimchi juice over the whole thing in the pan. Those red specs are all from the kimchi. It's very flavorful, and has a little kick.

you can improve everything by adding more stuff to it
by adding more stuff, you can always make the dish taste "different" but it takes a lot of mastery and balancing of flavors to make something actually "better"
