Final result

It was cooked well to my taste but the flavor was not as good as the ribeyes I normally like and it was too thick for my taste

The weight of the steak is compressing the bottom half so you can't really see too well but yes that spot particularly was a little uneven, was my first time cooking on an outdoor grill.

And it's rare not raw

I feel the same OP. New York strip is alright, but ribeye is so much more flavorful. I cook mine about the same as yours, but on a cast iron skillet at ridiculously high heat. Sear the fuck out of either side real quick and eat. So long as the middle isn't too cold it's good to go. Nothing ruins a good steak like overcooking it.

>> No.4554861

>>4554853
I think I will avoid the grill from now on and stick to the cast iron, I like the flavor I get there better
The strip was on sale so I thought I'd give it a go but I will only buy my ribeyes from now on..

For the record, rarer meat not only tastes better, it is more readily digestible and much healthier than tough, dried out, overcooked meat.

I don't think so alien queen.

Well-done is cooked and safe to eat. Everything else is risking death.

>> No.4555030

You can't tell someone something just "tastes better." That's your opinion(man). Also, cooking is supposed to make things easier to digest, and make more nutrients bioavailable. For example, cooking neutralizing the avidin in eggs.

Parasites? Good lord, the risk of you choking on your well done steak is higher than that of parasites being there. Why do you have these irrational fears?

>> No.4555053

>>4555030
Depends on the food. You're right about eggs, cooked they are more bioavailable. Meat however, such as beef, is more easily digested when raw, and cooking destroys some of the nutrients. Raw or even rare meat can be fully liquified and absorbed by your body in as little as an hour. Cooking it thoroughly makes this process take much longer. Also overcooked meat can be carcinogenic.

Ahh I've never felt so justified in the rarity of my meat!
