>one cup sugar
>one cup water
>bring to a boil
>pour over a quart of ice
>steep 3 family-sized Luzianne tea bags on low heat until dark amber
>add to pitcher with a pinch of baking soda
>top off with water (if needed) to create a total of 2 quarts (3 if you want it less sweet)

I know how its supposed to be made. I just never get it how i know its supposed to taste. jesus christ lay the fuck off.

I do it like this:

tea, bagged, black, enough to weigh 10-12g (Luzianne and Lipton, for example, both weigh 2.2g per bag, so five of those; I like it stronger, so I'd use about 25g/eleven bags)
ice cubes, 4½ cups
water, 3 cups
sugar, 3 cups

Place tea in a half gallon pitcher.
Top with ice.
Boil sugar and water together.
Pour mixture over ice/tea.
Let sit, stirring occasionally, until ice is melted completely.
Remove tea.
Serve, pouring brewed tea over ice.
Makes just under a half gallon (7 cups/6 servings).

If desired, you can brew it with fresh mint and/or lemon slices or serve it poured over muddled mint topped with ice with slices of lemon floating about in there.

It's tea that has been sweetened. There is no set way it's supposed to taste other than tea that has been sweetened. I personally bring a gallon of water to a boil, pull it off the heat immediately, add the tea, and steep it until it gets as dark as I like it. I usually add my sugar when the tea is still warm enough for it to dissolve easily but before it finishes steeping. If I let it steep too long and the tea is over-extracted, I will add a little bit of vanilla.

There is also the traditional Southern restaurant method, wherein you add sugar to the hot tea and don't stop until it stops dissolving and starts getting sugar sludge at the bottom of the pitcher.

Nigga, do you even South? TNfag here - boil a pot of water on the stove, take it off, AS SOON as it stops boiling put, like, eight or ten teabags in it, let it sit a long time. Pour into a gallon pitcher, put in a ton of ice, fill it the rest of the way with water, add as much sugar as you want.

Luzianne is American (read: Southern) tea, and the only correct brand to use in sweet tea. Lipton is International and the shit you linked to is low-country.

Please GTFO.

Even though Lipton is international, it's the most used tea for sweet tea in establishments and around the house here.

Honestly, if you said "I love Luzianne sweet tea!" most people would look at you like you have some problems.

>Sugar in tea

>> No.4425428

Luzianne is shit.
Get Community Tea. Grown in Louisianna, only available in limited quantities.

Here in Texas, sweet tea is a way of life, right alongside Dr. Pepper. To make it properly, brew tea to desired strength, then add sugar until it reaches saturation, and no more will dissolve into the liquid.

Enjoy on a hot afternoon by serving in a fuckhuge glass of ice while you kick back and watch the mexicans mow your lawn.

Yes, but the tea itself is grown elsewhere. Charleston tea plantation is American grown. I think that's what the poster was getting at.
That said, I've never used Charleston tea. Luzianne or Lipton or gtfo.
