Holy shit I want a real sandwich now, the only sandwiches I've had lately are wowbutter and some vegetarian franken sandwich that consists of: lettuce, tomato, mayo, almond butter, 'white cheese'(the cheap shit), and two slices of hard boiled egg
Some how it tastes really good(though my S.O's parents only have sliced whole wheat and it would be better on something thicker like a baguette)

I love love love making sandwiches out of the Walmart Neighborhood Market Italian loaf bread from the deli. That bread is so soft and delicious. Man I love it.

I usually buy
-3 or 4 long loaves of Italian loaf bread
-sliced turkey
-provolone cheese slices
-3 or 4 large tomatoes
-a bag of shredded lettuce
-about 3 cans of sliced black olives
-a jar of big pre-sliced Dill pickles
-a jar of jalapenos
-and of course, miracle whip

I get home, make my sammiches, and eat the fuck outta them. Man, it's the best eating when you're on a budget. I usually buy a few big bags of sour cream & onion chip + bbq chips to go along with them. This meal can last me for weeks, and it's nice and cheap.

Allow me to present you an obscure piece of Nordic sandwich tradition - the sandwich cake. By outward appearance a cream cake, which through closer inspection turns out to be alternating layers of different breads with varying sandwich fillings for each layer, a "frosting" of cream cheese, and garnishings made of ingredients more suitable for the salty nature of the contents.

They're tasty. And convenient - most commonly made for large crowds, such as for christenings, weddings and funerals. The big 3 of a person's lifespan. And on top of that, they're relatively cheap.

Most common fillings I know of are salmon, smoked reindeer, and smoked ham.

That culture is so different from mine. Wanting to be cheap on the most important days of your life, weird.

Well, that's the thing. On each of these days, it will be someone else footing the bill. On two out of three, it will be your parents, and on the final one, your children, and... well, no matter where on the planet you are from, you will know the thoughts going through their heads when they're doing the budgets.
