Evening /ck/, I come with a question. I'm out of gin, and was wondering you guys had an official tier type system like you do with whiskys. All I know is I love Plymouth and Hendricks.

>> No.4287716

idk get beefeater

>> No.4287721

Hendricks is the best, but if you want decent stuff on a budget, go for boodles.

>> No.4287725

>>4287721
>Budget
No. With booze you often get what you pay for and I don't want shit. Budget is $100 a bottle.

>> No.4287740

Hendricks is alright, but doesn't have a lot of range. It is A+ in anything with cucumber no doubt.

My favorite is St George Terroir, absolutely amazing. Super complex, very clean, surprising balance.

Bombay Sapphire East is good for an everyday kinda gin.

>>4287740
Oh yeah and Leupold's is good too. Damrak is good, Nolet's Silver too.

Oh and it's a close cousin of gin, but Bols brand Genever is great. They make a barrel aged version that is out of this world.

>> No.4287799

Hmm.... we actually do have an image for this. Unfortunately I only found our rum and whiskey tier pics in my folder.

Hendrick's is the best

Then Tanqueray, Then Bombay Sapphire, then Beefeater.

Never go lower than Seagrams. When I was drinking on the cheap I'd get their grape-flavored gin. Mixed with coke it tasted exactly like grape-soda. Cue drinking problem.

How does Bombay sapphire east differ from the regular stuff?

>> No.4288087

I like Hendrick's, discovered it lately after years of enjoying Bombay Sapphire.
I find Hendrick's to be overwhelmed by the other drinks very fast though (I can't taste it anymore in the same volume of tonic I'd use with Bombay). I've yet to try it with some cucumber.
One big pet peeve with Hendricks though, the bottle neck design is retarded and it's nearly impossible to pour a glass without spilling some.
Next purchase will probably be Tanqueray 10. Is it better than Tanqueray, or shall I just stick with Tanqueray?

>> No.4288091

Gin is just fir tree crammed into a bottle. Doesn't need a ranking.

I was so pissed when I offered some of my Bombay Sapphire to a bunch or friends last time (usually I just have Gordon's around at parties, not going to waste the goods stuff for people who can't tell the difference).
>mfw they compared it to turpentine (admitting the Bombay was just a smoother turpentine than Gordon's)
>mfw they gulp down any beer without distinction and enjoy their bottled piss more than gin
>mfw my friends are sometimes plebs, but they make it up by being awesome in many other aspects

>> No.4288140

>>4288135
just serve it to them with a bit of tonic water and a lime slice
complements the gin awesomely

pure gin is not for everyone
i myself only like one or two after a good meal

I can't understand drinking gin by itself. I don't even like martinis. Tonic water, ice and lemon/lime transform it.

My fucking face. It's drinking liquor right now. Thinking about folks like you who say this shit. Wondering why.

My friend, this is EXACTLY how I served it to them.
They were all having beer at my place (house warming party so we were like 15) and saw me enjoying a chill G&T with a slice of lime (limes grow here, so I always use them instead of yellow lemon). They were curious and a friend asked for a G&T instead of another beer. Then they all asked for one, and all drank it but joked about the turpentine flavor. I gave them a whiff at the Gordon's bottle for comparison, but they remained partial to beer.
>when we eat out together I'm the only one to go for wine
>beer is at the center of every party they throw
>every time I throw a party I have at least the following liquors and ingredients:
- whisky (coke)
- Gin (martini, tonic, lime,)
- Vodka (martini, olives, tomato juice, condiments, orange and apple juices)
- local rhum agricole (cane syrup, lime, mint, soda water, coke, fruit juices)
- 2 to 3 kinds of beer
- rosé wine, dry white wine, sweet white wines for the ladees
- red wine (only decent bottles) in case some people feel like it
- various soft drinks

Surprisingly, we are often more people at my parties than my friend's

I've found Brokers do be a decent choice when on a very strict budget.

It's nothing next to the pricey stuff, but if you're used to the uppermiddle class of gins (midtop shelf?) like bombay sapphire, Brokers' is a damn good gin for half the price.
