My mom used to make a simple watery stew with kielbasa, potatoes, onions, and carrots. Had kind of a sweet taste, as I remember. I should ask her to make that again sometime.

>> No.4281850

I have no idea what Kielbasa is, but I'd eat the hell out of whatever's in that picture.

>> No.4281855

It's a hot dog.

It's a mild Polish sausage. I've seen it a lot since moving to Connecticut, hell they even offer it at the cafeteria at breakfast in the hospital where I work.

Okay. How do.you pronoun it?

My ex used to cook it up as a side for spaghetti. Kinda thought it was odd at first but it went with it quite well. Nothing better than kielbasa and kraut though.

This is how we say it in Pennsylvania

>> No.4283299

> kah-bass-eee

Oh how u troll

keel-BOSAHH

Its important to no pause between the syllables... Try to put the accent in and speak it as one syllable. Its not a bossa that have been keeled.

Its a fine sausage. Would eat. Would probably discard one side of the bun and eat it like a bruschetta. Too much bread in that pic.

What's the sauces in the background? Is that mayo or horseraddish?

How we say it in Jersey, too. My dad was Polish and he pronounced it like that, even though I'm certain it's horribly incorrect.

No, it's keel-basa.

>> No.4283317

They sell it at Costco. It was good. Are there any "real" Polish people around to tell us how to pronounce it correctly?

But if you're from certain parts of Chicago, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, a lot of the Northeast, you might hear something like

kehl basah or keeel basah

Delicious stuff either way. Very strong very heady. Can manage any number of extreme added toppings including chili, refried beans, shredded beef or ham, horseradish, pickled ginger or fried egg like a champ.

Nearly the mightiest of the hotdog family.

Nothing like tasting a kielbasa several hours after you've eaten it... *BURP*

>> No.4283461

Okay. See. I always pronounced it "kilbasa". Grew up in DC and Philly. Went to culinary school in NY. Always "kilbasa" Moved to Pittsburgh, Italian inlaws make fun of me and call it "kilbasee"

Wow, didn't realize Kielbasa was so obscure..

>> No.4284354

Fuck all ya'll. my family are from there & I grew up eating this stuff. You pronounce the ł in "kiełbasa" like a cross between a "w" and "l", but more on the "w" side. "Kew-BAH-sah" & the stress in Polish words is always on the second to last syllable.

>> No.4284382

>>4283031
That's because Connecticut is filled with Polish people. And Italians. New London has some great Polish restaurants.

>> No.4286292

Bro, Do you even kielbasa ?

>> No.4286515

I replaced hot dogs with kielbasa long ago

I take the sausage and cut it into lengths about 1/2 hot dog bun. I split it and fry it (an attempt to maximize grilling surface area) and place both sides next to each other in the bun, covering the whole length. SO MUCH BETTER than hotdogs.
Great with mustard, krout, relish, you name it. I wouldn't want to drown it in chilli or cheese, but it would probably still be good as fuck

When prepared this way, it can be cheaper than even the cheapest hot dogs

The top of the bun and the condiment cup of mayo looks like a used condom in the thumbnail.

martin rosols makes a product called kellies which is like a hot dog version of kielbasa with a natural casing
