It's Pancake day in the UK and I made american style blueberry pancakes

Didn't turn out very pleasing to the eye but very tasty. Served with honey and creme fresh.

Happy pancake day everyone!

>Pancake day is the best day of the year

ok, somehow i grew up never hearing this. so i googled.

among other things i learned, was that "carnival", which is what pancake day, aka mardi gras, is called in some latin american countries. i mention that because the whole point of this day is to eat like a pig because the fasting of lent begins tomorrow.

thus carival, which comes from the spanish term carne levare, meaning "to take away meat".

The curious reader is encouraged to investigate the tradition of Pączki day, since the Pączki is superior to the pancake in each and every way.

Just had one of these for dessert. I prefer my laskiaispulla with strawberry jam and whipped cream. Almond paste is fine, too.

Main course was also traditional pea soup with extra ham and onion. Lethal combination, if you know what I mean.

Just finished eating my pancakes /ck/

Mixed results as it was the first time I did them.

First 2 pancakes had filling of mushroom, ham, bechamel, spring onion and tarragon. Nice flavour but my pancakes were too thick.

Next came bacon, cheese, mushroom, parsley. The pancake for that one was awfully rubbery.

After that a maple syrup pancake, by now I was getting into my stride.

And the final 2 were classic with lemon and sugar. Pancakes turned out quiet well and the flavour of the lemon sugar with the pancake is what makes pancake day for me. I was transported back to when my mum, who died last year, used to make them for me as a kid :)
