So guys. Grills. I need to get one. What questions should I be asking myself to get the right thing?
I was looking at the Weber Q200 - small enough to easily store in my apartment, nice porcelain coated cast iron surface, and looks to be a lot higher build quality than any other grill in the same price range ($200-$250).

Any suggestions?

I have the larger weber Q i like it except you can not really indirect grill because the 3 burners are horizontal. you can have on just the middle, just the 2 outside or all 3 so if you cook anything larger than a hot dog its gonna be directly over a burner.

Q200 is a gas grill. for fucks sake don't buy that.

CHARCOAL OR WOOD.

A standard Weber kettle grill is half the price of that propane shit and provides better flavor.

"Y-you want me to what for my community service?" Steven asked, stammering a little as he stared just above the heads of the assorted officials. Jail had not been kind to him, the strain showing on his haggard and pallid face.

"Present a cookery show aimed at students for a student television channel. Under supervision, of course." A smartly dressed woman replied, her smile as fake as her fingernails.

"But, I don't know how to-" He started, sunken eyes blinking rapidly before he was cut off by another on the panel.

"We'll provide the scripts and the ingredients. In fact, you can even eat what you make as well." A man explained.

"Oh... okay." Steven said in a small voice, feeling more uncomfortable and out of place than he normally did. His Adam's apple bobbed under his jowls.

"Come along then, Mister Reed. Let's get you on your way." The fake-smile lady said, her voice full of condescension, rising up to usher him from the room.

In the corridor, Steven got the nerve together to mumble "I don't want this to get out... I don't want to be a laughing stock. It wasn't my fault..."

"Oh, Mister Reed, don't worry." She smiled, patting his shoulder lightly. "It'll only be on student television. No one else will see."

The Q200 is a solid grill. I used to sell them when I worked at the Home Depot.

It's got a lot of material where it counts - namely the oven portion of the BBQ, and the grill itself.

If you want to use a 20lb tank though (and you do, if you can, because you'll spend a relative fortune on those little 1 pound canisters), you need a proprietary adapter. Cheap enough, but it'll add to the price of the grill a bit, so add it on to your expected cost.

The only BBQ that would really be comparable would be a low end full size cast iron broil king. I think their econo line is the crown line. A Crown 20 will run you about 300-350. Nice thing about the broil king is that you can turn on one side, and leave the other side off. Also every hardware store that sells BBQ parts will sell "universal" parts that are based on Broil Mate / Broil King, so parts are easy and cheap to come by.
