I like these better because there's more flavors.
People tend not to like these sometimes because they claim a chemical taste, but I don't taste it. Tastes like candy.

Around here they only sell the original Haribo bags with five flavors and it bores me.

>the original Haribo bags with five flavors
The original (German) Haribo have six flavors. The American version left out apple and made strawberry green for some inexplicable reason.

If you compare the two they're completely different in terms of texture and flavor in general.

>> No.4123093

>>4123091
They're talking about the American version and it sucks.

>> No.4123095

German ingredient list: Glucose syrup; sugar; gelatin; dextrose; fruit juice from concentrate: apple, strawberry, raspberry, orange, lemon, pineapple; citric acid, lemon, pineapple; citric acid; fruit and plant concentrates: nettle, apple, spinach, kiwi, orange, elderberry, lemon, mango, passionfruit, blackcurrant, aronia, grape; flavorings; glazing agents: white and yellow beeswax; carnauba wax; elderberry extract; fruit extract from carob; invert sugar syrup

US ingredient list: Corn syrup, sugar, gelatin, dextrose, citric acid, starch, artificial and natural flavors, fractionated coconut oil, carnauba wax, beeswax coating, artificial colors: yellow 5, red 40, blue 1

So yeah, the German version is glucose syrup + fruit extract jelly and the American version is basically gelatinized HFCS with artificial coloring and flavoring

You should also realize that observation is laughably trite and completely misses the point. Flavors preexisting in nature and derived directly from things people normally consume are generally safer and have less potential to cause allergic reactions,

Of course what is better obviously varies from case to case since say synthesized benzaldehyde (used for almond flavoring) is certainly safer than what you'd extract from actual almonds (you won't get any hydrogen cyanide alongside it).

>> No.4123430

http://sweets.seriouseats.com/2012/06/taste-test-haribo-gummy-bears-german-vs-american-turkish.html

This says that german haribo bears have elderberry, spinach, kiwi, etc while the Americn versions just list artificial and natural flavors

>> No.4123474

Haribo is just an over glorified product at a premium price tag. Similar consistency and taste found in different brands of gummy bears. My other complaint is that since very few people even buys these at the supermarket. They sit on the shelf for weeks or even months. So yeah they tend to dry out by the time you open it up.

>> No.4123481

>>4123430
Of course its going to be just the generic flavors that are the mos popular. Specialty flavors can be found in candy stores that do actually made them but are they worth the cost? Not at all

No, it's the GENERIC German Haribo that have apple, strawberry, raspberry, orange, lemon and pineapple juice mixed with nettle, apple, spinach, kiwi, orange, elderberry, lemon, mango, passionfruit, blackcurrant, aronia and grape extracts. That's what's used for the version sold in Europe.

In the American version all the above are replaced by unstated artificial flavors. Taste different and have a completely different texture. They're also made from corn syrup instead of glucose syrup.
