I'm deep frying a turkey with my friend this weekend and am thinking it would be a waste to only fry one turkey in all that oil.

What else should I try deep frying?

I know it's awfully /b/ of me, but every time I hear of someone trying to deep fry a bird, I get a surge of excitement thinking of 3rd degree burns, sirens, and the smoking foundation of what's left of a house.

I think it's because the mainstream media demonizes people who do this.

Deep fry EVERYTHING.

Do you have any leftovers? Dip them in batter and deep fry them. Make donuts. Make fried wontons. Make fried ice cream. Fried pumpkin pie balls (use frozen pumpkin pie filling instead of ice cream, but use the ice cream method). Fish planks (do those LAST). Chick planks. Cheese sticks. Hush puppies. Pizza pockets. Hot pockets.

I would google up some batter recipes and read the reviews for them if there are any and make a decision based on that. There are different batters for different foods that match better than others.

Possible, but I doubt it. Either way, society is to blame. I mean why do we need to deep fry an entire turkey?

>because it is delicious

No, it's pretty much the same as oven roasting it only with more danger of getting splattered with hot oil.

>> No.4028945

No, just stuff that will melt at higher temperatures.

In fact it's recommended that most stuff NOT be frozen when using a turkey frier because it can cause a flash of steam that will spread hot oil all over the place, and possibly catch your entire set up on fire.

Rember for the best texture wait till the oil is smokes then put the turcky in still frozen.

Your oil will taste like turkey after frying one in it. For thanksgiving we fry two turkeys, and with that oil we have left over we usually do french fries/chicken wings a few days after. I wouldn't recommend doing anything sweet with the oil.

>> No.4029041

>>4029022

this. oil heated to frying temps is as sterile as can be, you'd be a goddamn fool to not filter and reuse that shit. With that being said the man is correct in pointing out the oil will no longer work for sweet things.
