Well see if you had been in this country longer than a generation, you would know that America pioneered the concept of industry food safety standards.

Before this many food establishments were unsanitary to be polite about it. And with these legislations the industry cleaned up the the near spic and span format it is in today.

However, as increasing waves of non first world immigrants have showed up, they have often (not always) brought with them their home standards for food display and preparation.

So to a large degree, it's just natives being cautious about a foreign industry which may or may not have proper health code standards.

Ranch Market and Food City are the bastion of non-pretentious folk who know how to cook! If you let those whiteys in they'll be wanting premade foods, and they'll be willing to pay more for everything. And then we'll lose what was so great about these places.

It was kind of hilarious to move to AZ and start buying my avocados 4/$1, then see my roommate (an AZ native) picking them up 1/$1 at the white people store. He literally had no idea that produce is significantly cheaper elsewhere, because going into places like this makes white people so uncomfortable.

If you can't deal, you deserve the extra $20 in grocery spending each week. It's a racism tax.

We don't have one of these near where I am (California, few hours north of LA). We do, however, have a little local place called Asahi Market that's been privately owned for decades now. A few things there are a little pricey, but most of it is quite reasonable. Small establishment overall, too, but they pack a lot of products in there. Korean-owned.

Yup. I live slightly north of Sacramento, and we have the " Oriental Market", which I believe is owned by Fillipinos, but carries pretty much everything you need for Japanese, Vietnamese, Flip, Chinese, Thai, Malay, whatever food you want to make. Its not a huge market, but its packed full.

i used to eat at a korean place (in the midwest, so not a well known cuisine) and they had like four entrees named generically like spicy chicken, spicy beef etc. versus soon dobu or bul gogi. i'd just order my bibimbop, but white people would only order from the four generic items.
