Evening /ck/. Just thought I would share with you guys my new grill. My old, cheap wal-mart charcoal grill finally kicked the bucket. This is the replacement. I was looking to invest in something long-lasting and heavy duty, but browsing at stores and looking through catalog's found me no satisfaction. Wasn't until a friend of mine told me about a out-of-town company that specialized in making custom grills. Decided to give it a shot and put in a lot of money so I had high expectations. All of them were surpassed.

Dumping a few pics.

The guy who makes these was an industrial welder for 50 years. His experience really shows in this piece. I had the thickness of the barrel custom rolled from 1/4 inch thick steel. Wasn't interested in a smoker but asked for a double layer for heat sensitive/slow cooking foods. Pull out grates, roll up bench, extremely polished welds. Everything I asked for was met perfectly.

Mexifag so carne asada is always on the menu.

Can't get over how well this was made. It's built like a tank.

Mexican hotdogs in this one.

Last pic. This one's from tonight.

I thought that first pic was a barbers chair at first glance.

I wouldn't mind something like that in my entertaining area but I have no friends and no one to entertain.

how does a charcoal grill die off, isn't it just a metal bowl? was there a hole or something?

Most modern grills provide an easy way to dump and clear the ash.

It was a bowl charcoal grill. Very cheaply made, the steel was as thin as a piece of foil. The base of the bowl was thin and had holes for ash cleanup. However I abused the shit out of it by piling large heavy pieces of mesquite wood instead of using briquets, which it was originally meant to take. The base rotted so bad you could push down with your finger and break the steel. I was always so paranoid that the intense heat would just cause the steel to break open while cooking and spread coals all over my patio and myself.

You know it. Needless to say, I didn't hesitate when I asked for 1/4 inch thick steel to avoid any kind of similar situation.
