So has anyone else heard of this?

Malt flavored Dew? What the fuck? Is Pepsi trying to break into the beer industry?

why?

sounds interesting.

tried it, great shit... idk why i like it so much but i do

Mountain Dew is slang for Moonshine so its actually really weird that they've never expanded into the whole alcohol angle.

Hell Coke and Jack Daniels teamed up to sell premixed drinks.

buy 10 of them, a pack of yeast and you could brew up a gallon of beer

>beer

It isn't beer. It is malt-flavored Mountain Dew, nothing more.

What does "malt flavored" even taste like? I've never consumed beer or any other malt beverages.

Malt beverages are usually sugar-laden alcoholic drinks. You're not really missing much.

Here's a video of a dude trying some.

I have had two, 16 oz cans of it so far. To me, it tastes like a really sugary beer mixed with Sprite.

>> No.3904564

Does it taste closer to Beer or Dew? I cannot stand the flavor of beer (and alcohol in general, fwiw), but I love soda and mountain dew, so I may try this when it comes out in wide release. I just want to know what to expect when I open it up.

In Germany a traditional non-alcoholic beverage is "Malzbier" ("malt beer") like "Karamalz". It tastes rather sweet but with a dark malty note to it, it also creates foam similar to beer if poured in a glas. Pretty refreshing and a good substitute if you crave a cold beer.

Oh hey, we have Kotikalja in Finland, which translates directly to "home beer". Sweet, malty, and a little yeasty. Brewed usually from a sort of malt syrup extract, water, sugar and yeast for a day or two, with a minute alcohol %. Found not only in homes, but lunch restaurants, cafeterias, and even schools from elementary grade and up.

Nice... googled a bit, seems like our german Malzbier and your Kotikalja are quite similar, the finnish version is just a little lighter...

I'm with this guy. I'm apprehensive about something like this but I'll give it an honest shot when it gets a release somewhere near where I live.

>> No.3905224

Is there anything to mix this with to make it alcoholic and still retain the original flavor?

Maybe a half n' half vodka tonic.

I'm Puerto Rican and drinking non-alcoholic malt beverages is nothing new to me (pic related). I love the malt taste but most of my non PR friends think it's gross so I wonder how well a product like this will do. I'm certainly interested in trying it..

>> No.3905767

It's weird, whenever I hear "malt" I think of malted milk balls, while everybody else apparently thinks of beer. So hearing about this makes it sound delicious, even though it will probably make me want to vomit because it has nothing to do with chocolate.

>premium

Stopped reading there. Fix up your advertising, Americans. I'd actually like you to appeal to people without having to tell me that your food is "PREMIUM 100% REAL AND FRESH NOT FROZEN FOOD"

>> No.3905861

I don't think that's what it's trying to imply. Rather, how it's a more extravagant and unorthodox version of regular Dew

>> No.3905864

Not him, but the word is used so fucking often that it's meaningless and just annoys me at this point.
