Why aren't you making soup anon?
Making some chicken tortellini.

tried to lightly sear the chicken to get a little flavor/found going because im stuck with flavorless boneless/skinless breast but between my cheap pots and retarded glass top stove hat randomly turns the burner on and off my efforts were unsuccessful.

>> No.20216293

>>20216218
It doesn't randomly turn the burner on and off. Learn how your gear works.
Keep going.

they 100% do, i can visually see it go from red to off to red again. sure its not random its PWM which makes getting a consistent temp impossible

>> No.20216366

>>20216321
The temperature is consistent enough to brown meats.
What happened to your soup?

>> No.20216384

>>20216321
PWM frequencies are in the thousands of times per second, that's not causing any issues. if it is really turning off for 30 seconds at at time, that's the overheat protection and it means that your pan is shit and cannot soak heat from the stove fast enough.

soup came out good i just didn't get the sear i wanted because if i don't pull it right at that stage the burner kicks back on and it goes straight to burnt in seconds, it wouldn't be suck a problem if i didn't have the cheapest/thinnest pans to ever exist.
I actually have some decent Martha Stewart copper bottom pans but they warped over the years and don't sit flat on the glass top so now they're only good for gas stoves.

they should but i bought them over 17 years ago and don't have a receipt plus after only 3 years they discontinued the line (i guessing for this very reason) its actually hard to find any evidence they ever existed in the first place.
Sucks because they actually are fairly good pot/pans and the newer models aren't nearly as nice or thick

I use a 2400W electric wok that I run through a variac. Set wok to max temp, then use the variac to actually control the voltage. Lets you slowly simmer stuff without retarded temp fluctuations of zero to max power.

>> No.20217652

>>20217641
thats genius! i hate have to stand there trying to find the sweet spot for a simmer, the only thing i ever use a variac for is a guitar peddles/amp attenuation

If u were going to go the electric route, may aswell go the extra step and get induction. Hot plates are notoriously inefficient.

came with the house, if i ever upgrade it will probable be to gas. I'd have noting against induction except the burner size, my current big burner is only good for a 10" pan any bigger and its off the burner and cooler the the center of the pan.
I wish i could use a 14" frying pan to sear all my chicken at once like you can with gas stove
