Why do you post such a disgusting image on the food board??? Are you a filthy person and does this reflect on your personality perhaps??? Do you bring up the color of your stool when you are having dinner with your family?

I'm going to look up a recipe. It looks suspiciously similar to a custard danish. If it is, I'll probably wind up having one at some point anyway.

Good luck, they're like 80 cents a piece so people won't bother making them themselves but if I lived abroad and felt homesick I might try to replicate some local breakfast pastries :)

You might not be able to find it in a figure-eight, but the three recipes I've found are all basically danishes. If you found yourself in some backward land that didn't have custard (or at least fruit jam and sweetened cream cheese) in a glazed puff pastry shell, you could always hit the Portuguese bakery and snag some pasteis de nata (like a broiled cupcake version).

I always assumed these were sold all over west eu. I would be surprised if you wouldn't find these in any French bakery.

It's funny that nobody seems to want to take credit for these things.
If you ask the French, the Viennese are guilty of inventing the whole family of pastries. If you ask the Danish, the Germans did it. If you ask Americans, it was the Danish.
I'd take credit for them, but nobody wants to eat a Canuck. Nanaimo bars can be a hard enough sell.
