Sonic drive in’s are the literal face of hell. I had to work for a pregnant crack addict gm who pumped out kids to get time off from the company. Couldn’t keep a worker for more than 3 months before they’d walk out mid shift from a screaming match with the psychotic pregnant woman with crack withdrawals.

I really fucked up getting that gig for my 16th birthday

Falafel restaurant ran by Salvadorans. They put bleach in their chick pea soaking water, I'm not kidding. Also did this weird thing with the fryer where they wrapped the heating element in aluminum foil that would end up burning and floating around in the oil and you'd get little burnt pieces of foil in your Falafel. Which was inedible btw, complete mush and so over seasoned with some sazon seasoning they would use that made it taste like ramen noodle packets and country ham. They would wipe off green bread mold off the pita with a dirty cleaning rag then nuke it for 30 seconds until it got that stale-and-chewy wet bread bullshit.
They closed in 5 months. There's a dumpling house there now, pretty good for take out but a little pricey.

There was this sushi/ramen/tap room place I worked at that was built into a whole foods. The store manager was a massive bitch and wouldn’t let us use any of whole foods’ food prep stations, so our space was this weird cramped L-shape. Our manager was gone on maternity leave right after hiring us, and when she got back she would constantly bitch at us about not doing things the right way (even though she didn’t train us) (even though she also did things wrong) (even though the regional manager (her boss) liked the way we did things). When we were understaffed, it was impossible to keep up with everything. When we had the right number of people, the space was too cramped to ever do anything efficiently. I think everyone who started at the same time as me was gone before me, and when I came back a couple months after quitting, everyone who had started before I left had also already quit. And to top it all off, we didn't even have chashu pork belly. We had fucking precooked chicken breasts.

McDonald’s and then years later at a food distribution place that I was literally fired from on my first day because it was just 8 hours of scooping up rice and putting it into food tray which would later be turned into a tv dinner. By the 4th fucking hour my arm felt like it was going to break off and shook violently and I ended up spilling rice everywhere and slowing down the line. McDonald’s was just nonstop work—like they literally have a rule where you can’t just not have something to do even if there’s nothing to do then you have to clean something that’s already clean or throw out perfectly good fries just to make a new batch…and no small talk with coworkers. Rude customers saying their fries are cold, not salty enough, too salty; teenagers coming in after school and asking how much I make and calling me a retard, and then there was “the poop bandit” that would take a shit right in the center of the bathroom and we could never figure out which customer it was until one of the line cooks quit and said it was him as he left.

That’s why working retail security at a Walmart is the best job ever. I just watch movies, shitpost on here (I put my phone in something like pic related but it’s a binder so I just wiggle a pen so it looks like I’m writing in my daily activity report). And since I’ve got a gun and work in a high crime zone I make $30/hr and get tons of overtime, double shifts too.

Working in an office was cool but it’s essentially the 13th grade and I got tired of the high school politics and realized I just can’t work with women. I do miss the potlucks though.

That’s great money and I spent 10 years living in an apartment building that I managed (really I would just scare the tenants into paying their rent) and didn’t pay rent or utilities and I bought my house for 500K CASH. I’ve never even had a bank account. If I had a better work ethic I could probably do bodyguarding or take bribes as a nightclub bouncer, maybe even high end security…but I’m as lazy as it gets. I just look scary and built like a giant meatball/Rottweiler. I was almost a linebacker but I dropped out of school.

One of the managers was so dumb she fell for a scam phone call saying the store manager owed 2k$ to them. She took the money out of the safe, walked to the gas station across the street, and gave it to the scammers who were literally in an unmarked white van.
Also a giant ass rat died in the middle of the kitchen too. Of course this was directly next to my foot and I damn near stepped on it when my coworkers started freaking out.

Worked at a Wendy's one summer in high school, all my training was done online (unpaid on my own time) and if I had any questions about what to do I was told to refer to the training material and my shift was timed to take place exactly during the rush from 10am to 2pm with 15 minutes at the end to take out all the trash and refill all the fridges with supplies from the basement freezer while still needing to make sure fries and burgers were stocked up for the rest of the staff because the replacement grillperson didn't show up til exactly when I leave and if I took more than 15 minutes and any additional time was cut from the paycheck. When I gave my two weeks notice and they didn't accept it because I didn't give three the assistant managers called me and gave me shit for not being there for my shift after I stopped showing up after two.

Worked in a kitchen to make sure the workers didn’t talk to each other or pass any notes. I’m white but speak fluent Thai so the cooks (all of them Thai) didn’t know I was listening in. Before their shift was over I’d switch with someone and tell the boss who said what to who and the following day they wouldn’t be there anymore or one of them wouldn’t be there anymore and the one that stayed had this dead eyed gaze. I found out later that everyone that worked there was a slave. One day I showed up for work and the place was boarded up. All the Thai food I could eat though. It just hurts that I was a part of something like that. If someone would’ve just asked me for help I would’ve done something…anything.

Bob's Big Boy, when I was in college. Total shitshow. I absolutely despised everyone there, for being incompetent retards. The only good day I had was the day I fucking quit. The manager called a meeting and I figured he was going to rub it in, that I was leaving. Everyone was looking at me and smirking - right up until the GM said "uh, yeah, we're closing our doors. You can come in and pick up your last check tomorrow" I laughed like hell at everyone and walked out.

only worked at one restaurant and that was during summer break one year. was an upscale mexican place and worked as a busser. they actually had pretty good food. they had a gnarly patron margarita. always felt like an outsider though since i was the youngest there at 20 and the waiters don't really let you join their social circle since you're a lowly busser. got a nasty cut one night on my pinky from stocking water glasses in the plastic thing in the kitchen and i slipped and cut a glass and started bleeding everywhere. almost passed out from how much blood i lost, got a cool scar from it though. when i went back to school i could only work saturday nights. that lasted about 3 weeks until they just stopped giving me hours altogether. was fine by me, i hated getting back close to midnight and finding everyone in my dorm already piss drunk while i was stone sober
