I made it once. It was a comfy snack for hiking. Real larp food.
You can do a lot of variations on it as well, like I made one with pork and cranberries as well. That was good.

Probably not worth it for just a regular, at-home thing to have and eat, unless you have come into possession of a large amount of meat and you don't have a freezer.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I'm an immigrant kid. We didn't have the concept of "kid's food" in my home country when I was growing up (though we've grown steadily more Americanised so is very much exists today). As a result, I ate whatever the fuck the adults were eating. If that was squid ink risotto with seafood, that's what I ate. If it was roast duck with lingonberries, that's what I ate. If it was deviled pork with egg-curried zucchini, that's what I ate. Artichokes, spinach, kale, mustard greens and so on were all things I ate and enjoyed growing up and still do.
And because of this upbringing, your experience eating only tots and tendies and having to wait for your balls to drop before you could enjoy asparagus simply does not apply to me. I like what I like and dislike what I don't and it hasn't changed with time at all. There aren't many foods I dislike but pemmican happens to be one of them.
