IDAHO BROS... what's a good restaurant I should try? Any good place for potatoes/fries?

>> No.19783123

Idaho's a big state bro you have to be more specific
also we export all of our good potatoes but Boise Fry Company is an obvious choice

I'm near Idaho Falls at the moment, heading up to Montana on a bigass road trip.

>> No.19783132

Idaho is a big fucking state, you're gonna have to specify. In the South you have militant racist Mormons. In parts of the East you have tech billionaires and celebrities that are better than everyone else. And then in the north you have militant skinheads

Can't help you then, I've only driven through Idaho Falls and then gtfo as soon as possible on the way to camping trips or whatever. Only place I've eaten there is the mcdonalds immediately off the freeway next to walmart.

Any recommendations for Idaho then?

The drunken celt is decent. This part of the country has this weird pseudo-irish pride, as in they are descended from Scots but are too dumb to know the difference, but the food is fun.
When you get to island Park stay away from Cafe Sabor, it's chain that's used for tax evasion and money laundering by a guy in Utah. More importantly the food sucks.

I've not been there but Hymalayan Flavor has been recommended to me many times. Utah and Idaho have a decent amount of immigrants from northern India and it's usually some of the best Indian you can get

nah Idaho Falls is nothing special, it's not gross or dangerous or anything there's just not much going on in the southern deserty parts of the state. it's a town you drive through to get somewhere else.
Outdoor stuff is really all I can recommend, around those parts where the Snake goes into Wyoming is really cool if you're into fly fishing or rafting, pic related is from a trip I did on the south fork last spring.
Stanley is a cool place to visit on a weekday. There are a lot of small towns with cool stuff scattered throughout the prettier parts of the state but the tourism is too much, especially on a weekend you can't find a place to park for miles. Coeur d'Alene is a bougie yuppie town but the lake is actually really nice in the summer and it's big enough that it's not insanely crowded.

I actually really don't care for finger steaks, they're just the tough shitty parts of beef breaded and fried. I see them in gas station hot cases more than anything. Usually a finger steak basket costs more than tendies for less meat too.

also if you or anyone ends up going through Cascade check out Thunder Mountain Burgers, it's a little shack kinda hidden down an embankment next to the highway but their burgers are great, big and and cheap. every other place in town is either usually closed or stupid expensive so it's worth it.

Based, I did a similar road trip several years ago in the opposite direction. Went across Montana and into Alberta a bit and then spent a night in Idaho falls before heading into Wyoming and eventually down to Colorado. Very nice scenery out that way but like some others said Idaho Falls isn’t much to write home about

Yeah not to sound like a fag but honestly everything was really cool, it was like Bob’s Burgers but IRL. Literally had my order taken by a 10 year old and then talked about our families with the Mom and her Daughter. Genuinely a great experience, and all the food is homemade and cooked to order. Super cool. The burger patty is made of ground chuck and loin, as a burger chad myself this was impressive and delicious.
Back tomorrow for the huckleberry milkshake and steak fingers.
I’ll snap a few more piccys but won’t post any of the family.
Fries were fucking rad, they have a ton of sauces for them, I got fry sauce, ketchup, and malt vinegar. The fries were fresh and made from idaho potatoes, so Malt & Salt was my choice. Fry sauce was good, I felt like they should add season salt and Worcestershire sauce but I think making it plain is a regional thing.

that looks fucking pathetic for a restaurant anon. the fries were not properly desicated in a fridge before frying. If there was a required double fry on the potatoes the oil was not at correct temp. The burger bun is PATHETIC. no buttered crisp griddled bun. lettice is horrifically old and withered. Pickles are at least a year past prime. The only positive i can think of is that the beef, thankfully, doesnt look like they salted the interior before forming patties.
