What are some foods you hate that most people seem to love? For me it's chicken wings.
>Always covered in horribly sticky sauce so you can't eat them without making a mess out of your hands and face
>You have to get up and go to the bathroom to wash your hands multiple times while eating them
>No meat. You have to pry apart mounds of bone and cartilage to get less meat than a single chicken nugget
>Have to eat like 40 just to begin to feel full
>Can't have conversation or enjoy company while eating them because they take so much work
>People make fun of you for not cleaning the bones like a piranha. "Hey there's like a whole 0.1g of skin or whatever left on the end of that joint there!"
>Always overpriced for no reason
>Flavors are always XXX HOT DEATH LAVA or Honey Maple Sugar Corn Syrup Diabetes BBQ

What a worthless food. Everyone loves them though. For me, liking chicken wings is a mark of a deficient mind.

Where I'm from, we use them to make soup or, more rarely, roasted or grilled (no sauce; seasoned with various herbs, aromatics and spices, tho).
I don't really care much for Ameriwing or Chinkwings because they only taste as good as the sauce does and is rather have it on pork than on chicken.
While it's not a thing I've ever seen, I'm sure I'd fuck up some Buffalo pork riblets.

Also pickerel from a different cook.

Much good that'll do when the sauce is literally cooked into or into the chicken like with barbecue wings or Chinese Coca-Cola chicken. I guess for Buffalo, it's fine but not everything is Buffalo.

Crabs of any kind pretty much. They taste all right, but the effort you have to make to get to the small meat morsels is something that I don't like. Usually in "crab parties", there's no other food than the crabs from what I've seen, no sides or anything. I can't also eat much crab before it starts to taste bad and this includes shrimp. They're easy to peel at least.

Agreed. My Nipnong aunt used to make pickled fish sushi (basically ceviche pressed onto rice) that tasted nice but sushi from better restaurants has never really wowed me.
It is quite literally one of the very few food types where I strongly prefer the inauthentic, Americanised version over the real deal.

most of your points are accurate anon (the last one is not really true, you can almost always find a pleasant medium buffalo sauce). the problem you're having is how you frame it. you have to make it into an event, a celebration. make a mess, hell yeah! eat a ton of flesh with your bare hands like your ancient ancestors. pile the bones and make a throne. when people make fun of you, laugh back at them and let flecks of spiced meat and spittle fly everywhere. take your time, they're fine even when not hot. you can talk in between wings and take your time, you have all night, it's a celebration of life and death. you're eating two wings of a bird and you need to eat 20 birds to get full, that's amazing and worth the price. be proud of your alpha species status, anon.

Buddy, you can get plain wings. Pizza places around me in the Boston area charge extra for sauce, so it's better to get them plain and use whatever sauce you like.
Also, from your first post, cartilage is good man you shouldn't skip it.

I came to the realization a while back that I don't really like bbq that much, particularly ribs (beef and pork). It's pretty much for all the reasons OP listed, except that I absolutely love buffalo wings.

Yeah, I'm sure you can get them plain but I don't really get the point there. If you like it that way, tho, you do you, boo.

>cartilage is good
That's probably why we use wings and feet in making soup and stock respectively. Growing up, my mum and nanny would make stock from the feet, back, wingtips and other bones of a whole chicken or two and use the wings themselves plus drumsticks and occasionally whole, bone-in breast for the soup.
Thighs would get deboned and used like you would boneless pork chops and breasts, if not used for soup, would get filleted from the ribs and used in other ways, like run through the mincer to make shallow fried chicken burgers or cut up and curried with vegetables and eaten with rice (not a native dish, but we liked it).
Two chickens, cheap as chips, fed a family of five one soup dinner, one cutlet dinner and one burger or curry fry dinner.
And that's not to mention the skin she'd render into cooking fat then crisp up as a snack for us kids.
Fucking love chicken for its extreme versatility and ease of use.
