In common English, "toast" is assumed to be short for "toasted bread". And nobody refers to bread as "a bread". It's always "bread" or "some bread" regardless of quantity.
Similarly with toast, "a toast" is never used when actually referring to toasted bread.
This is exclusively an ESL filter and people who can't speak the language shouldn't be catered to.

i'm pretty sure it's a shitpost anon, but I just wanted to say good deduction.
but even though "a toast" is incorrect, it's not a bad thing to use on occasion because it might get a chuckle out of someone else treading on to purgatory in this dead world

A slice of toast? Two? A loaf of toast?

>> No.19683782

>>19683143
A slice of toast would be clarified as one, a toaster generally has 2 slots so if you'd like some toast you'd get 2 slices unless specifying otherwise

In Greek, "a toast" would be what in (British) English is called a "toastie".

when he is saying would you like a toast he is saying it as an action verb as to be toasted by a flame, since toast is not a noun, but is the action you perform on the bread

> do you want a toast
would you like me to heat you up to a crisp ( toasted )

>> No.19686684

>>19686579
Toast is absolutely the noun and the verb. What you're staging here would most often require the participle "Toasted".
>"Would you like to be toasted."
To attempt to avoid this would require some acrobatic wordplay, such as
>"Shall we toast our gracious host?"
