When I was a teenager, the local Dollarama used to carry Chef Boyardee ravioli in the tall cans (not the standard-sized cans), and they were $2 each. They had both regular and mini ravioli. I don't see them in dollar stores anymore, and prices obviously haven't been the same ever since.

my favorite when I was poor was chorizo and beans. that tube of chorizo that’s made of salivary glands, cooked forever with some potatoes until crispy. add a can of refried beans with a small can of green chilies mixed in, then you have enough food for several meals, especially if you cook a few eggs to go with it. I still make it from time to time as breakfast burritos
