I always thought the place was just a catering service. The exterior of the buildings always gave that impression and so did their locations. They were either near a Pier 1 Imports or in some weird plaza or business park. I did not learn until much later that you can sit down inside and eat. I still haven't tried it.

I got banned from gamestop because there were 3 at the mall for some reason and another down the block from it
I was using them for free videogames by buying a used copy then returning it before the week was up and if I wanted to keep playing I'd buy it again from the one next door and keep repeating the process
Eventually they caught on and I got banned but I got away with this for a long time
Played a lot of free games
