Do you just not like the idea of fried chicken sandwiches in general? Fast food is a huge part of American culture (the thread topic), for better or for worse, and those fried chicken sandwiches were excellent, and hardly fast food. I don't remember all the specifics, but I brined them including pickle and hot cherry pepper juice, breading included panko for extra crisp & crunch, thick hand cut, extra funky pickles (Bubbies brand) for acid and more crunch, Duke's mayo (not homemade, sorry), fried to a beautiful dark golden brown, and served on pretzel buns (also not homemade, sorry).
