I'm considering going vegetarian. Anyone here ever do it? Thoughts, recipes, advice?

Been vegetarian for 20 years, it's super easy.
Make sure you include a good amount of eggs and dairy for the protein and vitamins, and eat plenty of fresh vegetables and whole grains.
Italian cooking is a great place to start as they have a ton of vegetarian dishes in their diet that are easy to cook

Go Ovo-Lacto if you do. It's not a bad diet if it works for you.
The MAIN thing to avoid is grains that are sprayed down with glyphosate, or any of the weird frankenfoods designed for Vegetarians/Vegans.
Baked goods from Europe are almost always good, and natural, organic grains from bulk bins are a good cost effective route as well.
Remember: Non-GMO doesn't automatically mean it isn't full of toxic shit.

This is great advice for OP.
Here's 2 dead simple, yet filling and delicious recipes;
1 pt. jasmine rice
1 C. lentils(sorted and rinsed--really easy to do on a paper plate and rinse in a cheap rice cooker before adding the rice.)
2 PINTS water
4 Tblsp. butter
1 T. poultry seasoning (thyme, marjoram, sage, garlic powder, FRESH ground black pepper)
½ T ginger powder
~1T salt--or to taste
I just run that in a cheap 2-State rice cooker and the end result is great tasting and filling.
I will pair it with a whole bag of Aldis California blend(frozen veg.) or a nice salad with whatever vegetables i'm in the mood for, dressed with ACV and olive oil.
~2~
Barley and tomatoes with cheese.
This is moar of a wintertime food as barley is very warming.(good for your guts too.)
1 C. organic pearled Barley
4 C. water.
Italian seasoning, or any other spices you like.
1 14.5 oz. Can or it's equivalent of stewed or fresh tomatoes.
(I add 1 Tblspn. of beef or chicken bouillon here, but vegetable bouillon works fine.)
bring to a boil in a large saucepan then simmer for about 45-60 minutes.
when it's done, and the barley is no longer "Al dente" grate 4-6 oz. of cheese.
I also usually eat this with a salad or frozen vegetables. Fresh is good too, but frozen are the next in line.
WITH butter and salt and fresh ground pepper.

I definitely wouldn't go full vegan so eggs and dairy are still on the menu. Thanks for the posts friends.

I eat a semi lacto ovo vegetarian diet (fish or meat once a week) and I used to be a vegetarian for 22 years.

Take a daily iron supplement with vitamin c to help absorb it. Also, get a b12 shot once every month or take a good b12 supplement. Good luck.

Cont.

It's important to get iron and b12 in supplement form if not getting adequate intake on a vegetarian diet

Good luck

I already take iron because I'm anemic, but I can add in B12.

My mom's nurse and she does my b12 injections monthly. I'd recommend finding someone or your doctor to give you b12 injections as they are the best at raising and maintaining healthy levels

NP.
Just PAY ATTENTION to what your body is craving.
Bread and Pidzer are still vegetarian.

There are indeed many excellent sources of B12 so it should not be a problem.

it's good for your poops but you'll be up all night craving meat protein. I went vedge for a little over a week and it was all good (didn't save me any money though) until I started craving meat so bad I ate an entire canister of slim jims and cried myself to sleep

good luck OP
